My experience too with slower shipping and noted the change from UPS to FedEx. Their 2-3 day advertised expedited shipping morphed into 4-5 days + even when I ordered mid week. I didn't mind the extra shipping time but I did mind thinking it was going to come sooner. I am willing to pay some extra for (actual) 2-3 day shipping. I responded to a generated B&H survey and noted the same on the survey.

I agree completely that their service has slipped dramatically. It used to be for many years that if I ordered by lunch time, it would be in my driveway by UPS the next day. Now it takes a week by FedEx or sometimes FedEx and the USPS. I have written to them about it and received no reply. I'm using other sources, particularly Hunt's out of New England. They take a more personal interest.

The best answer will be obtained this way. Herschel used to participate on this site, and was in Customer Service at B&H, I believe. If the OP calls him I am sure he will get an answer.

Yes, I have had a similar experience. B&H used DHL in conjunction with the USPS. I am in Florida and it has been over a week and I still don't have the item. Looks like a similar delay in just getting it to the shipper. Very disappointing. Seems like it's sometimes faster to get something from China or Japan. I really hate to see them go downhill.
I also had a similar experience with MPB. Took forever to receive a very expensive item from them recently.

I have noticed they are a bit slower. Though complaining about free shipping doesn't make sense to me, if I had to have something faster I'd pay for it!

In my neck of the woods UPS hands off packages to USPS. I've never had such bad service. I now check if USPS involved. If so I don't use them.

I just cancelled an order that was advertised as free next day delivery and it was over two days and the items were not even sent to shipping yet. Disappointing...

I've noticed a dramatic decrease in shipping expedience from B&H with several recent purchases. This dates to before the holidays and is not related to them. I've been buying from B&H for years. Up to about 6 months ago, items in stock and eligible for expedited shipping came the next day to my DC suburb home. Over the last six months, shipping under the same circumstances started taking up to a week. Most recent example is my order for 2 items in stock eligible for expedited delivery and order confirmed November 26. One item arrived 11/30 after shipment information was sent to Fedex 11/28. Shipment information for the other item from my confirmed 11/26 order was only sent to Fedex 12/3 and arrived 12/5. So the delays seem to be at B&H and not the shipper. I am wondering what is the cause behind this marked delay in shipments at B&H and is this going to be a common occurrence?

I agree, "sometimes"... it seams from time to time to take a bit longer after they opened the Brick & Mortar warehouse in NJ. Now having to pay tax being I live in Jersey. Items I've purchased lately that come from the Jersey warehouse come same day or next once the order has been sent to the warehouse. I could be wrong but the delay seems to be getting the order to the warehouse. Prior to the opening of the warehouse, most items came the next day of placing the order, if it was FedX, by 10:30am, if UPS by 5:30 pm.. It's been for the most part on par, but there has been a couple occasions it's taken longer than usual. Heck I'm still waiting for my D5 remote, due to being back ordered. I guess due to E'quakes in Japan. Who knows... having to pay tax now, If I need something in a hurry, I go to my local camera store 3 miles away, where they'll match prices and either way I now have to pay the tax. Unfortunately my local doesn't always have what I need.

I’ve noticed inconsistencies as well. My last order was over the phone and I made a point of the need to have the package by the weekend. The promise was I would have by Thursday. Showed up the following Tuesday!

Packaging has also not been up to par on occasion.

Very surprising.

I have noticed an obvious change in their "Packaging". A different kind of BIG box for some small items, But here in flushing, Michigan my packages were still here in two days .Ordered Tuesday Arrived yesterday. Something might be changing, But I strongly doubt that B&H Will ever short=change us valued customers . WE are THEIR life's essence!!

Thanks for your interest in B&H Photo and for your concern. We regret any lapse in service and we regret anything that causes customer dissatisfaction. During mid-November the northeast experienced a sudden snow storm that unexpectedly inundated our region with 6 or more inches of snow. The snowfall was swift and dramatic and began at the start of evening rush hour which made efforts to deal with it difficult. My own persona experience was that what is normally a 15 minute drive from my commuter train station to my home took about 2 hours. Region-wide recovery, including our warehouse and shippers tok longer than expected.

Almost immediately thereafter we ran into the "Black Friday" shopping weekend. We expected an upsurge of order activity but I must admit we were inadequately prepared for the volume. We are recovering from that now and I expect our normal service should be restored even as you read this.

With all that said, at the worst, our on-time out-the-door rate exceeded 90%.

I apologize for any customer's dissatisfaction or inconvenience.
