I've been pretty surprised at how many have expressed a strong dislike of tattoos on women. Is that all women or just models?
Personally I think tattoos look beautiful, especially on a beautiful woman. But like all art, there is art that we like and art that we don't.
What's been implied by some is that it doesn't matter the tattoos, that they are not acceptable at all by some. That a woman must be inherently stupid to get a tattoo. My doctor is a womon and has a few tattoos(at least that I can see).
One of my goals is to start shooting Suicide Girls, simply because I love the look! One of my favorite Models is Leah Jung, and would love to shoot her some day!
So what is it that you don't like, or DO like about tattoos on models or women in general. What about on men?
Feel free to post some examples either way.
It's a brave new world out there.

I am a person that likes tattoos on women probably for a different reason than most. I'm a guy. I don't understand women. LOL Most of them may as well speak a different language.
However I believe that most people in general put a great deal of thought into their tats. I can learn a great deal about the opposite sex by looking at their artwork in a matter of minutes. From the kind of art to the location on the body.
A tat on a woman's lower back means something different than one on her shoulder or ankle. Does she like animals? Does she miss a deceased loved one? Does she have a wild side? Maybe she is proud of her children. I can't talk to women. Yet I can learn so much from her dress, makeup, and her tats. Her personality can come through loud and clear in a photograph.
I think that they add to the story in the picture and give you a sense of the subjects personality.
Personally I have no tats and have no intentions of getting one. But I like looking at good artwork on people.

Interesting what you say. The thing is that most tattoos are not visible unless the owner is reasonably disrobed so most of the time it would be pretty difficult to assess someone's personality type (I would have thought anyway). Also, I'm curious about your comment, "I can't talk to women." ?

I am not quite sure about the concern of "what will they look like in 25 years." They already look bad today!!!

I shouldn't have said, "Can't talk to women". I should have said, "Every time that I speak with women I am short and to the point. That's my personality. I am insensitive and most often stick my foot in my mouth." I can ask a woman her age/weight and she gets offended.. Ask a guy his and he tells you without being offended.
In my experience most tats are visible. At least partially and even more in the summertime.
If a girl wants to do high-end fashion/commercial modeling, tatts are a detriment or even a killer. Same story with high-end nude work. Or body-doubling (which is well-paid, especially when there's nudity). As to Suicide Girls, the most important thing to know is that the SG contracts shafts both the model and the photographer.

What happened to your Avatar LA-Shooter?
I am searching for the first person or model where a tattoo improved the appearance.

If a girl wants to do high end fashion modeling, 99% of ALL models are already weeded out because the are NOT 5'-10" tall.
And 99% of the 5-10 girls are weeded out because they are not size 2! Then 99% of those are weeded out because they're UGLY!! LoL
So every one else can have anything they want on their bodies because they Will NEVER do any commercial modeling.
The Promo sector hires tons of alternatve models and they can have lots of tats because the are fully clothed.
And conventions like Hempcon(and hundreds like it) hire hundreds of models and they prefer they be alternative.
And for art modeling as we see here, it's completely up to what the photographer wants to shoot.
I prefer to shoot both as they make different style shots.
It's all about preference in what you like to shoot and what you like to look at!!!

I have a couple of bad old tats I did with a needle and a bottle of india ink as a stupid teenager.
I still have designs around for other professionally done tats I never got around to doing (money issues precluded it back in the day).
I flirted with becoming a tattooist myself (which many urged me to do when I was younger) at a few points.
I once had a real appreciation of them in general, although being an artist, I was always highly critical of shitty work (and there is SO damn much of it).
Over the years, I've grown completely weary of tattoos anywhere, and even moreso on women. The older I get, the more I appreciate the human body (male and female both) in all its forms, and the simple fact that God is the supreme artist of all time and space, and not only can none of ever top His work - to attempt to do so with endless tattooing and body mods (UGH!) does nothing ultimately but sully a piece of art at best, and just plain destroy it at the other end.
I don't go round harassing folks who've dipped themselves in ink, but while I can overlook a simple small graphic on an ankle (etc), sleeves, and lines of text, and all the rest, turns me off utterly. As an artist, and as a man.
My opinion of course, but you did ask.:-)

I have yet to see a tattoo that improves the looks of the canvas, man or woman. It is not as if they are displaying their own creation either. It is someone else's talent that is being shown.
The human form is very appealing in its natural state. Why mess it up?
It may be a fad, but unlike other fads, it is difficult to move on from it. Surveys have shown that a majority of people with tats later regret their decision to get them.
As "BigDen" said, models without tats are paid more. If you cannot comprehend that simple economic fact you are in the wrong business.
I think of it this way: Do you really want to see the same painting over the sofa for the rest of your life?

And I look at it this way... Do I want to see the same face in the mirror every day for the rest of my life? This may be one of the good things about aging... or not!
