I would take the computer to an Apple store and have them do a clean install. You may have downloaded a corrupted file.

I did and my computer went byebye. I cannot get into the internet, i cannot bring up any downloads, i cannot get into my email at all !!!!!!! I am typing this on my wife's laptop. I have an over a thousand dollar apple computer that i can only play solitaire on at the present time. I am going BACK to apple to have them delete this new opperating system and put in the last operating system, "High Sierra."

I have no idea how much data i will lose, but if i can get back to where i was i think it will be worth it.

So, please Apple users here...DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR APPLE PRODUCT TO MOJAVI

So glad I upgraded my iMac to Mojave BEFORE reading this ....

And other nice features: Cleans up your desktop by stacking documents according to file type. You can then view in "Galley View" without unstacking. Also has a nice Dark Screen View so when you are viewing photos, the background goes dark. You can also add a photo directly from your camera to a document by clicking on "take photo" when you right click in your document. Other neat features, including speed security, etc. Don't be afraid. All my photo editing software runs fine.

I upgraded to Mojave and am having LOTS of problems - my word programme will not work, I can't open folders on my desktop and a few others my mac is 2014. A complete nightmare at the moment.

I was going to say the same thing. My desktop is a 2011 iMac and it is not compatible past Sierra, so I have no plans to upgrade. Most of the time (and note that I did say "most"), the upgrades are for cute little features that I'll never use or don't need. So my desktop is fine as is. My AirMac is a 2012 and I have upgraded it to High Sierra, but I probably will not go further. A lot of the cross-talk features require both machines to be on the same OS version, so again I will not upgrade. At some point, I will get the newest AirMac.

You can reinstall HighSierra and restore from your last Time Machine backup. Go to the Apple support site for instructions. With a fairly new computer there shouldn’t be many issues.

Just a guess but I think that folks with the older software programs are having problems. Not sure if it's related to 32-bit or not, but there has to be a common denominator for those that are having problems and those that aren't.

Whether or not it was your error, I can see myself doing in the same situation. I just popped up on my screen and I was hesitating... update or no? Thanks for the warning!

I have a 2013 MacBook Air and 2014 27" iMac - I ungraded both to Mojave with no issues. Sorry for your problems.
Call Apple Support - they are great and should be able to help.

I have a 3-year-old iMac. When I first turned the computer on after installing Mojave, it locked up about halfway through the boot up process. I forced it to turn off, turned it back on, and it booted up as normal. So far, I haven't found any of my installed software that won't run. I'd call Apple help; they're extremely helpful for problems like this.

I upgrade and lost buy use of my Apple CD writer. I spent overrun hour with a Sr. Tech. Then he found it will need a fix in the new system. I find that Apple is now busy selling new JUNK and doesn't care about the computer business. Too bad when my wife and I go away from Apple we will replace our phones, i pads and computers.

PS one computer is not updated so I can use the CD on that one.

My principle has always been, do not update operating system till you absolutely have to.

However, don't wait too long, or let too many updates go by... you can get stuck. I have a lot of software and plugin's etc., etc., and every time, you don't know what will work with the new OS till you need it- then uggg! So I wait it out till I hear no news about "updates" or even wait till the .2 version etc.

I still have to deal with discovering stuff that does not work... but that is life in the age of computers.

ALSO- whenever you update your device- do it at night- there may be a long lag in restarting- you have to let it finish- it is chugging behind the black screen, building the new kernel and stuff- sometimes it will seem far too long- if you hear yourself say "somethings wrong- I'll restart the machine" you have to walk away- who knows how long- your computer simply can't be on enough to give you a status/loading bar- but it is doing stuff! - So that is why I do it at night- wake up to it after giving it all the time it needs while i sleep .

Sorry for your bad experience.

Same here. If the computer is too old for the update, it won’t even let you download it.
