Lower the ISO and increase the shutter speed. You settings say 1/2000, ISO 720, shutter priority mode with +1.3 exposure. The 720 seems to be driven by the +1.3. Try full manual mode, ISO 100, 1/2000 and adjust shutter speed from there.

The faces appear to be exposed well though.

My Lordy,,,,iOS of 720 at high noon. This answers my earlier question about overexposure.

Gene 51 is right! Photos are over exposed --- "exposing to the right" should provide the maximum dynamic range. ISO should be set at native value, or lower (ISO 100). Make sure you've got the correct hood in place to keep flare at a minimum. Fixing problems in post is never the ideal solution, and if you are shooting high volumes, can be time prohibitive.

If need be, maybe the game could be played side to side instead of end to end.

A neutral density filter is a must for this kind of shooting. You can get a variable that turns to adjust the best ND level.
They run in price from $20 bucks to hundreds. Also adjustments to your aperture etc taking in mind a faster shutter for the action an issue.
Go to Amazon and you will get tons of ND filters. Tiffen good etc.

An ND filter won't do anything but reduce exposure, which will only reduce the shutter speed you can use. A polarizer might help with glare and reflections, but I can't see any benefit to an ND filter.

Agreed. An ND filter would do little more than using a higher shutter speed would accomplish. I believe that we had already suggested that the OP needed to reduce the ISO too. If the shot could be shot at ISO 100, f/5.6 and 1/4000 that would not be an issue.

I must on occasion shoot a football or soccer game at the high noon or 1:00. The sunlight is terrible at the time of the day. I am looking for suggestions and comments on what filter to use to minimize those terrible shadows and highlights.
Thanks in advance,

go into your camera setup/photo styles menu, reduce the contrast setting a step or two; may then need to increase saturation. See if that helps.

That's for shooting JPEG. Better to shoot RAW and get more dynamic range, and reduce contrast in processing.

Reality is that you can't do a thing about it! That's why you don't shoot a lot at noon. That said, keep the iso low, adjust your ss and aperture as necessary. Polarizing filter will help with reflections (make sure it's decent quality - I bought a cheap one years ago and my contrast and sharpness was reduced). In post, raise shadows and reduce highlights and adjust clarity/sharpness/dehaze etc etc to your liking. I would also shoot with the sun behind me which you are probably already doing. Some blown highlights is NOT the end of the world depending upon your composition. Sometimes you just can't beat mother nature.

Check out Mark Rebilas on Facebook or his website to see what is possible. One of the best in my opinion...
