Thanks Karin, glad you liked them. That last image is a hotel with an outdoor covered wine garden restaurant. Been there forever!

Many years ago, I visited (and stayed in that old hotel) in Rudesheim. Arguably, "The Happiest City on Earth!" From the street vendors selling deep-fried knockwurst and bratwurst; to the many inviting beer gardens each with its own authentic oompah-band playing traditional German folk music; to the variety of local Rhine wines; to the castle....

The old hotel lobby is where I first saw a vending machine that dispensed small/personal bottles of great wine....for a very reasonable price. Made it convenient!

IMHO, this is a must-visit spot for anyone in that area of Germany. Very nice images!

Thank you l Largobob for looking and commenting, very glad the my pix brought back some fond memories. I have been there 3 time now and the place never disappoints. I agree it is a must visit stop.

Nice photos of your well-travelled street--looks like an inviting place.

Thanks you John, appreciate to looking in and commenting, Drosselgasse is wall to wall but moves right along. It is a very inviting place and you can't go wrong wherever you stop.

Thanks for the tour. There are so many interesting things and places in Germany. My wife and I were in Dresden for 14 months. There must be thirty castles within an hour of Dresden. Within a few minutes we could drive out of town and through the most beautiful landscape. Your photos have made me homesick.

Thanks Bigmike1 your comments much appreciated. We were in Dresden a couple of years ago during a cruise on the Elbe River. They did a great job in rebuilding the town which got really pasted during WW2. Glad you liked my pix and that they brought back some good vibes.

I spent 3 years in Germany (Zweibruecken) back in 86 - 89 (after 4 years of High School German, and a Very Bad year of German Literature in College)
My Daughter later spent a semester in Quedlinburg (to fulfill her college language requirement). My wife and I went over to visit.
(OK - also stopping by Hohenschwangau to visit Newschwanstein, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Rothenburg odt).
I'll go back again some day - -
Single photo of the Rathaus in Quedlinburg available, if OK with the OP.

Rudesheim am Rhein, known for winemaking, especially Reisling. In the center of town is the Drosselgasse , a lane lined with shops, taverns, restaurants, hotels and cafes. It is narrow and only 472 feet long but boasts visitors from all over the world enjoying music and wine and dancing all day and evening every day. It is arguably the best known street in Germany.

I would say "one of the best." And, been there; done that, vacationing in Europe through the '50s, '60s, and '70s several times with my post WWII (1948) German Bride. Drossel translates to thrush, a famous and beautiful song bird in German literature and poetry. Gasse is equivalent to an alley, vs a street or highway.

WWII, The Occupation of Germany, and the Korean War Vet says, Thanks for the memories.
