Rudesheim am Rhein, known for winemaking, especially Reisling. In the center of town is the Drosselgasse , a lane lined with shops, taverns, restaurants, hotels and cafes. It is narrow and only 472 feet long but boasts visitors from all over the world enjoying music and wine and dancing all day and evening every day. It is arguably the best known street in Germany.
I would say "one of the best." And, been there; done that, vacationing in Europe through the '50s, '60s, and '70s several times with my post WWII (1948) German Bride. Drossel translates to thrush, a famous and beautiful song bird in German literature and poetry. Gasse is equivalent to an alley, vs a street or highway.
WWII, The Occupation of Germany, and the Korean War Vet says, Thanks for the memories.
