Question to those who have used- which paper did you choose?

if someone is bored and too rainy to go out and shoot, there are youtube videos comparing blurb with other products. That said make sure they are in the last year as all products improve from year to year. If nothing else it will talk about features that you did not think about,

I have done two books by Blurb. The photos in the first one were a bit dark. They suggested my monitor might be set too bright so that is worth keeping in mind. Actually, I think my problem was that I prefer prints on the darker side, probably an Ansel Adams influence! When I took their advice and paid more attention to adjusting brightness of photos to be more bright-and-cheery, I was quite happy with the second book. I used LR but found the the Blurb program a bit clunky and fussy, but nicely versatile. I am happy with them and will use Blurb again, and soon. I used the higher quality/price paper...after all, it was MY photos I was showing. (Rather like the old joke. Man in paint store: I want to buy some house paint. Salesman: Do you want our economy paint or is this for YOUR house?)

I have done about 8 books with Blurb and the quality is top notch. I choose specialty papers and linen hard covers. If you don't want to design your books inside Lightroom, you can use Blurb's own templates which can be customized to the look you want. That's what I use.

I've never used the Lightroom Book module...anyone have experience with this? I've always used Adoramapix for my photo books and LOVE the quality...just wondering about the quality of Blurb books, is it comparable? Sure would save a few steps if I could do directly from Lightroom.... Thanks in advance for any experience with Blurb you can share with me.

I like the Proline Pearl Photo and also the Premium Matte if you prefer a flatter finish.

You can get a swatch kit from Blurb and see all the papers and linen covers.

I create all my books in LR, coffee-table size, and print them using Blurb direct from LR. Great quality, wonderful books. The lay-flat option, when I looked at it, was fairly expensive. My books, since they are so large, are always around $85 to $95, this is because I like to have a lot of full-page spreads. My books are very professional when done.

A few examples out of the 13 I have done this way.

I have used Blurb via Lr a few years ago with very good results.. They have since added lay flat and additional paper choices. The lay flat option is only available with standard lay flat paper .... I would like to see the more upscale papers be available in the layflat option.... LR has recently upgraded the interface and now allows more manipulation to the standard templates (size of individual images can be infinitely adjusted by image... I have to say it sure is convenient and easy to use.

I have used Blurb and have found the quality to be very good. I have found their text editor to be difficult to use for anything more than a single line such as a caption. I have reported my observation and, since I haven't created a book recently, I don't know if they have addressed the problem yet.

It doesn't matter what youse for an editor, the book gets converted to a PDF. And I forgot to mention, always check the "Do not enhance" option or they will enhance all of your pictures by lightening them.

I have used Blurb and thought the quality was very good. I did not use Lightroom, opting to use their standalone compiler instead.
