I currently am using the D810 and my wife is using my older backup D300. I would like to upgrade her camera to a newer full frame camera. Should I consider the purchase of D750 currently being offered at a significant reduced price or wait for a possible upgrade to the D750 since this camera is about 4 year old technology. D300 works fine so there is no urgency. Any thoughts.

Get the camera now, don't wait.
I love the D750 and would get the discount offered now.

In my opinion, the problem with waiting for possible upgrades is as soon as any company does bring out the upgrade, they start working on the next upgrade. So when do you pull the trigger? For me it is when the value exceeds the price (which may be the case with the D750 now?)
Remember the saying, "there are only two cameras (computers, cars, golf clubs, fishing rods, you name it) made - the one not released yet and the obsolete one everyone currently owns."

If I may ask, who is offering this excellent discount? The 750 is a great camera - if obtained from a reputable dealer. Thank you.
I do think the new replacement is coming out in the near future but the D750 is selling for $1500 with the battery grip. The replacement I think would be selling for $2300 without a grip.

Right now you can get a really good deal on the D750. Yes, it is 4 years old, but it will still deliver great shots and your wife is not a professional so it should not be a problem.
I believe you will be seeing a new D750 model soon. But the money you can save on the current D750 is well worth a look. And the D750 is quite a step up from the D300. Your wife will be happy.
You could get a used 810 for about the same price I think.

Upgraded from the d300 to the d750 and I haven’t regretted it for a second. Sooo much better in low light situations.
About two years ago I upgraded to the full frame D750 from a D7100. I have yet to come across a situation (macro to landscape to astrophotography) where this camera did not excel.
The special price is a rebate offered by Nikon. I would never buy a camera unless it came from a reputable dealer. Thanks for all the advice.
I just bought the D750 kit with the grip and the 24-120 lens. Wasn't going to get the lens till I looked at it in the camera store then decided to get it since it was $600 off the full price. Love it. This is my second D750, sold my first one a year ago and always regretted it.

Always good advice.
Actually if I wanted the D750 I would wait until the price is as good as it is now. Nikon did have the same price months ago so I wouldn't wait this long though.
The D300 has been a very good camera and so has been the D750. If you let technology guide you the result will be buying a new camera every couple of years.
Since you have the D750 and lenses another D750 would be a great option.
