Thanks frenchcoast. Well said. Speaking of books, methinks you have some writing skills of your own!

Just keep up the good work with your camera.

#2 Gorgeous. Pushed it to the edge and pulled it off.
Mat it. Frame it.
#1 Flat. At minimum needs contrast adjustment. Just compare the rocks between the two.

Art is in the eye of the beholder!
I like them both though in the first the sky is a bit boring but it has the atmosphere of weather. Not much you can do about the weather. The enhanced one is good also. Its all about which one you like yourself. So much you can do in Lightroom and I'm trying to learn it.

I'm by no means an expert with Lightroom, but I have to say the more I use it, the more I find I can turn so-so pictures into better-than-so-so. I posted this shot earlier, but have since run it through some more Lightroom developing. Specifically, the color and luminance sliders to remove noise, as well as the graduated filter which helped the dull sky to pop a little more. Also added a little sharpening. It is so easy to overdo post processing, but I think I am getting a little better at it. Opinions welcome on whether or not this one is overdone, about right, or could use more (and if so what?). Thanks team.

Hi Timarron, I Photoshopped your pic! Enormous difference between Lightroom and Photoshop. I just don't know which is better - the difference is so enormous!
Cheers

Thanks Cecil. I don't know which one is "better" either because I keep going back and forth between the natural and the enhanced look. As far as framing and hanging, I think I have decided to go with the more colorful Lightroom version as it just catches and holds my eye a little more, even though your version is more what the actual scene looked like when shot. Interesting discussion isn't it!

Hi Timarron, at the end of the day, it has to be a personal decision. The best version is what suits 'YOUR' eye, and no one else!

Hi Timarron,
I will put forward my first step as a commentator here. I do agree completely with "regular" Harvey. I like the photo #1. And I like the illustration #2. Both are beautiful on their own right, and category.
