I'm by no means an expert with Lightroom, but I have to say the more I use it, the more I find I can turn so-so pictures into better-than-so-so. I posted this shot earlier, but have since run it through some more Lightroom developing. Specifically, the color and luminance sliders to remove noise, as well as the graduated filter which helped the dull sky to pop a little more. Also added a little sharpening. It is so easy to overdo post processing, but I think I am getting a little better at it. Opinions welcome on whether or not this one is overdone, about right, or could use more (and if so what?). Thanks team.
Original, as shot
After Lightroom
#2 makes a nice piece of Art - a photo, no. Maybe another work in PP would help it - I just don't know - your final is a good art rendition.

I still like the original better. My opinion. And still think this is a fabulous shot.
I love the bright blues in the 2nd one.

Think you did real good with #2, added clouds and water appears to be translucent.

Ilike what you did to turna mediocre shot into a wonderfulll seascape that has allot mor eimpact. Since you origionaly shot it with a camera that makes it a PHOTOGRAPH. To me I find acurate realism to be boring!
Thanks S-man. I am kind of the same mindset. While sometimes we get lucky and all the natural elements are in place to make a photograph good enough in its original state, the post-processing tools available to us now can take that same photo and turn it into something special.
My original photo is not bad, and many would prefer it over the tweaked version. I salute purists like that and envy them somewhat in their ability to appreciate the natural colors of the world. I on the other hand, who prefer sci-fi movies over documentaries, like to see things pop with the help of technology.
What's cool about that is neither preference is wrong!

Yeah, what Harvey said. I love what you did with #2 even though it's slightly overly processed for my realism-oriented taste.

Yeah, I agree with you, too. :D
Somewhere in between the 2, but i am no expert.
The second image has a lot more pop. Well done.

A picture is like reading a book, at times it is just a group of words but when you add the punctuation it becomes a best seller. Again, congratulations on #2 it is truly a outstanding shot with the right punctuation!.
