A number of contributors to this site seem to beat the drum for Adorama's biggest competitor in New York City. (I get it; I bought my last two Nikon DSLR's from the competition.) I have not had any dealings with Adorama....yet; however, I have been having some challenges with their competition lately and a lot of those challenges seem to have started happening when the competition shifted from the Big Brown Truck to handle their shipments to Fedex Ground. If Adorama's competition is telling me/promoting that I get 2 day expedited shipping to my area, why is it taking Fedex Ground 3 days or more to deliver? I get a tracking number, I track my order for delivery, my order requires a signature at times so someone has to be there to sign. I try not to burden anyone else here to do that, they have days off too. But, when you get a delivery date, you arrange your whole schedule and day off around being there to accept and sign for the order, and nothing happens by 2 pm; and you go on line, do another order tracking and discover the delivery has been rescheduled to the following day, that really rankles me!!!!

Have you considered having the item shipped to your office? Chances are there is always someone there who can sign for it.

Your complaint, (I'm guessing), is about B&H, yet you've titled it Adorama.
In my experience, FedEx is head and shoulders better than UPS. Regardless, if you are paying for 2-day expedited they should be sending it by Second Day Air. There is no way FedEx Ground will deliver in 2 days, unless you happen to live around the corner from the warehouse. If they did, no one would pay for Second Day Air.
For packages that require a signature, you can also have it sent to a FedEx store closest to you. You can go to the FedEx store and sign for it there.

In my experience, parcels from FedEx are far more likely to be delayed without warning or explanation than UPS.
At the same time, the best courier to my remote agricultural community in north central Wisconsin is, without exception, the United States Postal Service. Other members will quickly jump on me with stories of how mail carriers lost their prized Hasselblad, but, my friends, USPS Priority works for me 96% of the time. UPS and FedEx miss their promised “delivery windows” 45% of the time. I have taken to paying extra for USPS service in my area. /Ralph

I started noticing that B&H seems to be using FEDEX more and more lately. I'm not thrilled about it. Where I live, UPS is much more user friendly and it's going to push me towards Adorama and Amazon. I would be curious to know if one could request UPS or even USPS instead of FedEx.

I am also a fan of USPS. I use it exclusively at work and where I have the option available. If it’s good enough for the Big Smile, who am I to disagree?

Here in Southeast Florida, UPS, IMHO is the worst. I'm about 7 miles from the main hub and constantly when tracking a package out for delivery, I sometimes get the obligatory "attempt made no available" notice. Even though there was someone available. The majority of the deliveries do not even require a signature. I chalk it up to UPS being lazy.
FEDEX & USPS on the other are the better alternatives, at least in my situation. I for one was happy when B&H switched to FEDEX.

I agree that the USPS does a better job.
The delayed deliveries are discussed, while the countless on-time deliveries go unhearalded.
In my area except on rare occasions all three delivery services work fine. If I order from either B&H or Adorama and it is not the weekend or holiday I receive my packages the next day
UPS sucks. I recently had a check sent to me overnight thru UPS. The day it was supposed to arrive, I called the sender to get a tracking number. Well UPS had misrouted it across the country.... I wish this was the first and only time that happened.
