Great idea and great execution! I want to try this with my granddaughters. Thank you for the info on how to do the shadows.

Real great idea, but you have the shadows wrong so it looks like you cut out the kids and pasted them on. The shadows have sharp edges, too dark, and not placed around feet properly.

He probably did paste them. The imperfection of the processing does not detract from the quality, creativity and overall emotions tied to the image. It's easy to find imperfections. I'm not so sure it is helpful or even instructive. There is heart & love in the project. Did you miss that?

No. I thought it was a real great thing to do for his daughter. Most of the time I cut what I'm saying too short. But it looked so fake to me that I had to say something. With corrections it will be a great photo.

I understand. I don't see the "imperfections" the way you experience them. Actually, I like the shadows as they are. I guess we visualize though our emotions. I was so moved by his project, I may try to do one for my granddaughter who graduates HS in a few weeks.
Hope I was not too abrasive in my response to you.

They were cut out and pasted. The pictures were scanned from old prints from times when she was much younger, cut and pasted to the cap and gown image that I took. I then attempted, I guess not very well, to add shadow to the pasted images to reasonably match the shadow in the Cap and Gown image. Did you think I had digital images all taken at the same time with the same lighting from the time she was 8 months old until graduation? I didn't expect it to be perfect from a technical standpoint, just a memory for my granddaughter that I thought folks here might enjoy.

I certainly lack the talent to perfectly match old prints dating back 18 years to a digital image I took 2 weeks ago.
