I took the cap and gown pic using an Alien Bee for fill light, thus the shadow. I then scanned the prints of each of the old photos and imported them into PS where they were cut out and sized to proportion. Made a copy and mask of each one and used levels to totally blacken the copy. Put the blackened copy under the the original and moved it around until it looked like a shadow in the right place. Lowered the opacity until it was the right shade to match the shadow of the cap and gown photo. Did this with each of the old photos.
