My vote is in for a Eurasian Collared-Dove. Check the Sibley Guide to Birds, second edition. Their photo is exactly like the above photo.

We have them in southern Texas...we call'em Ring Necks.
For years all we saw was Mourning Doves. Then the bigger Whitewings bullied their way in and we saw mostly them for a few years. Now the even bigger Eurasians are moving in and becoming the norm. I'm scared of what's coming next !

I finally found a picture of The Asian Collared Dove in flight and have concluded that you are correct, the tail is more squared than the other doves and it is white.
