Here's the 2mp kodak DC280...which for the time back in 2001, wasn't too shabby. Is it noisy for iso 100 (yes), is there a lot of details lost in the shadows (yes), would I throw it away (no). Having this image makes me want to return (even though the tree is now gone).

I really like that photo.

Thanks...
I had no idea at the time when I did the hike with a co-worker that this is what I'd see. Needless to say, I was blown away that evening when we saw the sunset, across what seemed at the time, the top of the world. It was an easy hike to from the Service Drive Trailhead.

Well it's a wall hanger. I'll bet it would look nice as an 8X10.

Just checked my calendar and sure enough, it says April 1.

It should say April 54, should it not?

Mine was a C2100 (with a long lens, supposedly a Canon design). Bought it in 2002 at $400 (original 2001 price was $1000). Wonderful camera, went all over the world with it. Became a cult camera, holding its resale value nicely. I sold it in 2008 for about $150. I still marvel at the quality of the images.

You should try the OM-D or Tough series. That camera WAS good for 2003 but pales in comparison with the new technologies.

Although I'm not an Olympus owner, I was shocked and surprised at your "tirade."

Sure glad I read a bit further. Nearly got me.

I had a c3020z and I still have a c7070wz. Loved them. (They were all I had at the time. I didn't know any better.) I liked the controls on the 7070.

I am glad you identified your Olympus as an older model. Olympus had a few false starts when they went digital but IMHO they now have one of the best systems out there now with their micro 4/3 offerings. I am very happy with my Pen E-PL 7. Do not overlook Olympus if you plan to upgrade.

Whatever the camera (yeah, sure, it would be great if it had more fine detail and all, but) that's a terrific image!

If it is that bad, why are you still using it?

Now be fair to Olympus. Get a new one and tell us what you think!!

My first digital was also an Olympus and it had a huge 3x zoom!! (I believe about 1998?) Used Olympus cards, if I remember right. I was so impressed that I bought one for each of my kids that Christmas. But it did do one great thing for me! It seriously stirred my interest in Digital Cameras.
