I know there are some D500 owners here. The video record button can be reprogrammed to execute Mode. Mode is in the group of four buttons on the top left of the camera but it's more convenient to have it next to the shutter button. I don't shoot video so I reprogrammed it on my D500.

CO, lucky you, the D810 will not allow it. I'm a little shocked and jealous that the D500 will.

Well, I finally found it! Nikon D7100 - The instructions to access "My Menu" were to go to MENU > RECENT SETTINGS > CHOOSE TAB. It would've been nice if they let me know that the "Choose Tab" is at the BOTTOM of the "Recent Settings" menu, after all the recent settings that had been entered in the camera. Maybe I was too impatient, but I kind of figured it would make sense to have the "Choose Tab" pinned to the top of the "Recent Settings" entries rather than at the bottom. At least I now know where it is, and so do you! :-)

Bob, Definitely the D800 offers "My MENU." I would be surprised if the D700 did not.

You can probably assign My Menu to the Fn1 button. I can with my D7000. I'm not sure if you want to do that. Just an idea.

I think "My Menu" is at least as good as sliced bread.

The menu on the bodies I own are large and my memory is small. It's really useful to be able to collect menu items I like to use occasionally, but not continually and put them in one spot. Those menu items I use a lot are burned in my memory where I can find them. The ones that I only use occasionally are not and my older bodies were a real pain because I had to carry a cheat sheet with me to be able to find things.

My cameras are D750s and in order to avoid confusion, I have the Menus of both of them set like this...
First of all, I have my Fn button set to access the "My Menu", this gets me to my Favorite Options with a single button press, no hunting needed. I also have tried to order the items in a "most used" sequence, again to get to my most used settings quickly... I've also tried to organize options that 'fit' together in a grouping...e.g. Remote control mode, duration and self-timer are all consecutive.

1. Virtual Horizon
2. Battery Info
3. Auto ISO sensitivity control
4. ISO sensitivity settings
5. e3 Flash cntrl of built in flash
6. White balance
7. Set Picture Control
8. Monitor brightness
9. Remote control mode (ML-L3)
10. c5 remote on duration ((ML-L3)
11. c3 self Timer
12. Multiple exposure
13. Interval timer shooting
14. Time-lapse photography
15. Wi-Fi
16. Save User settings
17. Save/Load settings
18. Hide image

In addition to these, I have my 'preview' button assigned to "Viewfinder virtual horizon" as this is a most used option. Just FYI..
