I use both Flickr and 500px. The quality of photography at 500px is higher, but I've been disappointed on the limited size of images you can share from their site (link) to elsewhere. The two sites have different purposes and different photographers, although there's a lot of overlap between the two with many people posting the same images to both. They would have to significantly increase the price or drastically change the purpose of the site for me to move off of Flickr. Although people have found images on both sites and contacted me to purchase for stock usage, I use them for sharing rather than selling which probably reflects me assessment vs other sites you've mentioned.

Thanks for the insights.....I am hoping the same for the Flickr account

I update my thought after your reply after checking what I last paid for my annual Flickr Pro account.

There has to be a good cost-to-benefit ratio to make it worthwhile

I currently only pay $25 a year for a Pro Flickr account. I use Flickr to share photos with my family that are scattered all around the USA and occasional facebook and UHH embedding. It looks like Smugmugs cost is roughly $72 for the basic account ($5.99 month) and they are going to force us into their website unless you opt out. One thing I have noticed is that image quality right now has now degraded on Flickr. When I browse through an album, images are soft unless I click on the image, then the sharpness returns, I don't like that. Sad to see Flickr go...but it's coming. I'm letting mine migrate and if I'm not impress or happy...then I'll cancel and shop for something else.

You are in the same place I am - let's see what SmugMug is going to do with Flickr and the legacy accounts their have acquired.
I would like to think they will leave it alone. But realistically, they bought Flickr to add new revenue streams to their SmugMug business model.
I expect to see a monthly fee introduced at a minimum. And as you said, they will motivate us with a degraded product.
Too costly to maintain both infrastructures, and I believe the Flickr customer base will be invited to pay a fee or invited to leave.

I can find only a monthly and annual price. For me so far, only the donut icon has changed in a way that I've noticed. Maybe also, they haven't done anything disruptive to the site since those donuts appeared. Maybe the shoddy developers who keep screwing up the uploadr have interviewed for new jobs elsewhere ...

I'm sorry to hear this, as I pay only 25 a year for unlimited storage.

I started paying only in 2015 so there's probably a grandfathered account type from days of yore?

I originally had a free terabyte account, then years ago they offered a pro account for $25 that would have no pop up ads and unlimited storage. I jumped at that and have been happy with it. I don't know about paying out 3x more for the same thing.

Hang on as long as you can - the rest of us only wish we had the option

For sure I will. I love posting on UHH directly from my Flickr account because the image is as large as I choose and there are no quantity limits. The viewer doesn't have to click the download button.
I’ve been using Zenfolio for quite some time
The templates are good and the system is easy to use.
The 7 dollar a month plan has always been everything I needed
I do like to use Flickr for exploring other peoples work and inspiration

Appreciate the feedback - thanks for the suggestion
I have been with SmugMug since December 2006. I like the ulimited storage model offered. Prime reason I went with them. Are they perfect? Nope. As a pro business account holder, I pay a slightly reduced annual fee, because I am grandfathered from the legacy Smug. I appreciate the control I have over my site. As little or as much as I want. I have learned a great deal about design and code because of my web page. Like life, your return is equal to the effort applied. There are things I do not appreciate about SmugMug, but they are minimal in my opinion.
