Nikon F mount lenses will mount on a Pronea, but the I mount Pronea kit lenses will not mount on an F mount body. I can't remember why, but I think one of the bayonet tabs is wider on the I mount lens. For a point and shoot it was good and my wife could use my F lenses on hers, but it isn't a serious camera. Also if you find an adapter that converts Nikon to something else, it will not accept I mount lenses.

When my brother passed a year ago, I inherited a carton of things he had sitting in his garage. Among those items was a Nikon Pronea S (Advantix system) SLR with two lenses. Has anyone used this format? Does anyone know if processing is even still available for it? I'm thinking of adapting the lenses to my M4/3 Panasonic just for the fun of it. Any opinions on any of this would be appreciated.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my brother last year too. I really miss him.

Instead of tossing the glass, consider giving it away to someone who will appreciate it, or sell it on the Internet.

Go with modern gear.

My instinct is to try and make use of the optics. I have no illusions about the viability of the format. I just hate to toss decent Nikon glass.

I own a Pronei 6i with lenses and have taken over 80 rolls of film over the last two decades. I too tried to find a use for the lens when the APS format went away. Nikon advised that there was no other compatible camera format that they could be used with so they and the camera have become museum pieces. I am now scanning all my APS and 35 mm negatives into digital format in keeping with technology.

The reason those lenses weren't usable on FILM SLRs was because they were designed for the APS-C format.... so they should basically just be early examples of what we now call "DX" lenses.. and may be usable on a DX format DSLR... though it sounds as if some modification may be required.

I bet if you googled for info about the specific lens by name, you'd find some folks finding ways to use them!

I'm still working out if I can even do it. The lenses are the kit 30-60 and the 60-120 telephoto. I've been thinking about T-mounting them on my Novoflex bellows and then trying that on my 4/3 GH3 body. I'm just experimenting at this point. Thanks for your input.

Put the body and lenses on the shelf. They are museum curios and nothing more. My living room has a display of my old cameras ranging from 110 Instimatics to my 4x5 Speed Graphic and Art Pan 170. I enjoy looking at them and contemplating the marvels of technology.

If I have the lens I would try to mount it on a Nikon and see.

I no longer shoot Nikon, having moved to 4/3. But if it's a Nikon mount, it would likely work in some fashion. That's why I'm considering experimenting with using the two lenses as macros.
