When my brother passed a year ago, I inherited a carton of things he had sitting in his garage. Among those items was a Nikon Pronea S (Advantix system) SLR with two lenses. Has anyone used this format? Does anyone know if processing is even still available for it? I'm thinking of adapting the lenses to my M4/3 Panasonic just for the fun of it. Any opinions on any of this would be appreciated.

A quick Google search shows the film was discontinued in 2011.
Run, run away! Or put it in a glass case and tell tall tales about it.
APS worked, but...

My instinct is to try and make use of the optics. I have no illusions about the viability of the format. I just hate to toss decent Nikon glass.

Advantix film processing is still available at many processors of 35mm (yes, it's not the same, I know), or on a send out basis.
The Prolinea cameras were Nikons model for their first Mirrorless... the Nikon 1 in it's various versions. The sensor is the Prolinea frame size, which is essentially half frame (smaller than 4:3) and essentially the lenses are for that format. Similar to a 1 inch Sensor.
I just picked up a Nikon 1 J3 with 10-30 lens (35 eq 27-80mm). The 10-30 lens that was kit with the Nikon 1 failed often and Nikon issued a no charge recall, so I just sent that lens in. The fail on the 10-30 was a "fade to black" (no image) after the lens was zoomed a lot. It progressed to a total fail, hence the recall from Nikon. There is a tell tale on the lens if it has been fixed by Nikon.
The quality of the Prolinea lenses were good, but not sure if there are adaptors for CX to whatever you are shooting.
Worth a try, but that frame size and sensor is in Point & Shoot territory. That's on the Nikon 1. The Prolinea.... good glass???? who knows?

Thanks for you thoughtful reply. But I wasn't speaking of the first-generation mirrorless Nikon. I was asking about the Pronea, the Advantix system model. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks again.
The lenses are in Nikon F mount but Nikon warned not to use them on 35mm Nikon SLR. I don't know what kind of compatible you may run into. I think they would mount on Nikon DSLR.

I've been thinking I may flip them around and use them as Macro lenses.

The problem is with these lenses they don't have aperture ring so if you mount them reverse I think it always stopped down to the smallest stop.
I wouldn't try to mount them on a Nikon DSLR if they weren't recommended on a Nikon SLR. As for reversing them, what focal length are they? No automation and likely right on top of your subject. I shoot a lot of macros and that's the last thing I'd consider...

I'm still working out if I can even do it. The lenses are the kit 30-60 and the 60-120 telephoto. I've been thinking about T-mounting them on my Novoflex bellows and then trying that on my 4/3 GH3 body. I'm just experimenting at this point. Thanks for your input.

Yes,
I understood you on that. Sorry if my post was confusing. Just wanted to point out that in digital form, the Prolinea lives on. I find myslf wondering if the lens mount is the same?
Sorry for the confusion.

I actually love to have a Pronea S because it's cute. By the way while Nikon recommended against using the lenses that came with the Pronea on 35mm SLR they do recommend using Nikon lenses for 35mm on the Pronea.
