Very nice images Katy. vz
Outstanding, Katy. Great set of images all nicely focused and exposed. Looks like your new D500 is going to serve you well.

It may take days to learn all of the "buttons" names just so I can read the manual! But I had to try it out on these local home town favorites. (Mr Katy now has my D3300.)
Looks like you've got the hang of it. I love these cute owls.
Very nice work, Katy. Your transition to the new camera seems to be going smoothly. It's a great camera and you will love it more every time you take it out for a spin!
Nice set, the owl on the sign is a good one.....Jim M

Great captures! I see you used the Nikon 200-500 5.6 lens with the new D500. Have there been any focusing issues with this lens, as I am seriously considering buying one? Also, I live in Sacramento, so where is this local Burrowing Owl location? I have never seen burrowing owls and would like to see them.
Big-John, I have not had any problems with the lens at all. I read somewhere that only the early released ones had focusing issues and Nikon worked on fixing that problem. It is quite heavy and difficult for me to hold still, handheld, but it is perfect for auto-tours. I would not carry it any distance. But I really love it and never regretted getting it for a moment. (The weight may not be an issue for you.)
As far as the location, I will not divulge it on a forum as I don't want the narrow roads to be overrun by Audubon members (well meaning, I'm sure) coming from far and wide. If you can assure me you would not spread the word, I may give you the details if you PM me.
Thanks for your comments!

Katy, you and the 500 are a great new combination!
Thanks, UT Mike. It still seems kind of daunting.
