I’m asking a question about refurbished cameras. What do you guy think about them?
My thoughts is if it going to brake it all ready did and it’s been repaired dy a authorized dealer.
And it should be better than buying a used one.
Your troughts please.

I purchased a Canon 5DmkII and a 5DmkIV refurbished direct from Canon. The 5DmkII has been working flawless for well over 7 years. I send it in to Canon yearly for service using the CPS program.

Just to add to the chorus. I purchased a refurbished 80D direct from Canon a year and a half ago and it appeared and performed as new. Highly recommend buying refurbished, preferably from manufacturer.

I buy nothing but refurbished Canon cameras. The cameas are mostly overtocks by dealers, not broken and repaired cameras. Canon also provides a one year warranty.

As far as I know a refurb product is not repaired by an authorized dealer but by the importer of that product. An example, a refurb Nikon lens has been through tests to make sure it works to specs at Nikon, not a dealer.
Nothing wrong buying refurb. Roberts Camera and Cameta are excellent places to buy refurbs because of the extended warranty.

I've bought items refurbished by Nikon and have had no issues with them. I've also bought used from KEH and have had no issues there either. I did buy a used Nikon D70s from Adorama and it only lasted about 7 months then died... so bought a D7000 from KEH. So far, the D7000 has bee great for my wife.

I am the cheapest person that I know and I'm proud of it! I also have a photography addiction. I buy used and refurbished equipment all the time. Most shops thoroughly clean and do whatever repairs needed.
Go for it.

I have purchased seven refurbished lens from the Canon web site. Don't know if you shoot Canon but if you do: https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/lenses-flashes/refurbished-lenses

They have camera bodies too....nothing wrong with refurbished. Same warranty as if brand and by looking you can't tell the difference between brand new or refurbished. Good luck and do your homework.....

You're incorrect in your understanding of refurbish. These are not repaired equipment. The screen capture comes from the Canon USA website and their description of the source of refurbished product offerings.

From digital cameras and lenses, to camcorders, printers, and more, our refurbished products showcase our dedication to product excellence. Shipped back to us as gently used or unboxed returns, our trained Canon technicians perform comprehensive quality assurance inspections, replacing any needed parts with genuine Canon equipment. Plus, all refurbished products are backed by our standard 1-Year limited warranty.

You indicate they are not "repaired equipment" - at times they certainly can and do fall into that category - Canon says as much right in their description:

"Canon technicians perform comprehensive quality assurance inspections, replacing any needed parts with genuine Canon equipment" - isn't replacing any parts that need replacing a repair?

Well, I have a situation that fits pretty well here. In November of 2017 I bought a D850, and the focus tracking was not right so I sent it in and they fixed it... then on St. Patrick's day, the hot shoe quit working, the xqd card started to report errors, and the focus started to jump back and forth between spot and group. I called Nikon, they told me that they could replace it since it was already repaired once... however, at this point I dont know if that is actually going to happen based on the info that I have thus far gotten. That camera in particular is a lemon. So, if and when they do replace it, it will be refurbished and some poor sap will buy it in good faith... and get a twice repaired lemon. I wont buy a refurb because of this and I have heard of others that Have gotten the same type of lemon on a refurb. Now, Nikon only guarantees their refurbs for 90 days... some others will do 1 year, but if you buy used, then you often will get 180 days to a year... in my mind, I want the longer guarantee! Just my thoughts.

And you're probably reading too much into it ... Given the box has been opened and /or outside of Canon's control, some equipment may be missing / misplaced, even as insignificant as wrapping plastic ...

Given your certainly, run us through a known, or even likely, scenario where a repair is performed and the equipment is still sold at a discount to brand new. Given the parts and labor expenses, what equipment would be accepted back, fails to meet inspection, is repaired and still offered for sale at a price lower than new and still warranted for 1-year as if new by the manufacturer? "Replacing any needed parts" and "gently used" would seem to combine to exclude the concept of "repair" if you read Canon's description with a less optimistic eye ...

Purchased a refurbished Canon 80D for its light weight (2.3 lbs.) and video features from Canon Direct. I swear the camera was completely new, not a smudge on it, the lens was wrapped in plastic from the factory, the censor had 20 exposures, new battery, new strap...just brand new. I have used it many times over the past 4 months--nice little camera. Purchase price was $749 with lens, 1 year warranty, and 2 day shipping. Very happy with the value saving the $1500 new purchase price.

Just purchased my second refurbished body from Canon. Very happy with the 5d Miv. Canon will run sales on their refurbished products every once in a while. I saved an additional 15 percent on their recent sale.
