The photos are beautiful. Maybe use a off camera flash set to low power to fill the side of the subject opposite the main source of light.

I think they look good as is, but they would also look good in a different way if there were more exposure. I don't understand why people are saying you could change it very little in Lightroom. You can make some change. However, to just add exposure, which you can do, would make the whole picture lighter. And you may or may not want that. You can also lessen the contrast and/or lighten the shadows and the black. Once you do that, if you have photoshop, you can make even greater changes. But as it stands the woman looks very nice contrasted to the black background, at least in my opinion. You can also lighten the highlights while keeping the dark background. Increasing contrast may also keep the dark background but the woman in the picture would be brighter. Play around with it, save it as a new picture, so you still have the old, and see what you can do with it.

A couple of minutes in Adobe Camera Raw filter and another minute or so doing spotting with the spot-healing brush tool and I think there is the improvement you are looking for. I have added attachment. hope it goes through.

No. 1, it's considered bad form to "fix" someone else's photo without their permission.
No. 2, whatever you did to it made a mess of it. On my computer, at least, her skin looks blotchy like she's taken a bad beating. The OP's pictures are very well done. I agree with the crowd here. Print them out and frame them. Beautiful pictures of a lovely girl.

IMHO I think both are very good. Possibly in #2 the flash could have been diffused to be a little softer and as someone mentioned earlier the use of a deflector could have filled in the shadows a touch. Very nice.

What you have is Rembrandt Lighting and it is excellent work, just frame it.

Textures, colours and shadow, seem a perfect match in these photo's. well done. Personally I wouldn't change a thing.

Adobe Lightroom is a program that allows you to organize images and make changes to images while not changing the original image. Since the original image is not changed, you can look at the image with less or more exposure. You can crop the image. You can change contrast and tint. The changes can be saved and a new image created.

Since the existing pictures are great, not changing the original is important.
