Started with a Canon F1, added an AE1. Then newer Canons came out and I couldn't use my collection of FD lenses on the new bodies. Ouch! Investigated Nikon, found much better lens compatibility between models, traded my Canon gear for a Nikon F4 and some lenses, and haven't looked back. Not dissatisfied with Canon, just the inability to upgrade bodies without losing use of all my existing lenses caused me to flip. Yes, I know Nikon has some new lenses that don't play well with my old cameras, but I'm now up to a D800 and can still use all my old lenses with the new bodies. Not ready to go to a D850, I'll wait and see what the D900 brings.

Well said 1963mca, I know of many others who made the same choice and dumped the Canon equipment and switched to Nikon when Canon decided incompatibility was in their best interest not the customers. I know for a fact Canon builds good equipment as does Sony, and I believe Sony will be right at the top when they develop a complete line of lenses. After using Nikon since the seventies and many years professionally in difficult environments I have been very satisfied with the reliability and quality of work their equipment produces. I would never consider investing thousands of dollars in equipment, and having to be concerned about it being devalued by engineered incompatibility. Any Nikon lens I ever purchased always mounted and worked on any body I owned from the seventies to present. I don't think an honest Canon user could say the same thing, and for many it would not matter, but to me it does.

No. You did. Unless you're joking. "Nown" is an archaic word meaning "own.":

I agree! Canon is easier to use just as PCs are straight forward and easy. Never did understand the myth about Apple being "intuitive." I have always found exactly the opposite. Apple is sooooo proprietary that they will change something that works (like a mouse or touch-pad) just to be different. Different is not easy or intuitive.

Strongly disagree. I use PCs at work and a Mac at home.

I’m calling fake news on this post. My touch pad works exactly as it did 8 years ago.

I'm sorry users were so hurt - Nikon spread the issue out many years. Now you need a scorecard to figure out which Nikon lenses work with which cameras. I believe the clean break by Canon is partly the reason they are so dominant today.

The choice of which camera and lens company products to use presents in part as an emotional decision. Defense of this choice thus may become hazy instead of factual.

For my part, I do not waste my precious time on this subject. The observation that skill matters more than gear guides me.

I've noticed that my sony does not have easy accessability to the settings.

Actually Apple has revised the touchpad functions fairly frequently. "Natural scrolling" in 2011. "Force Touch trackpad" 2015. Two finger and swipe operations more recently.

And each one was a pain in the a**.

I’ve been using Canon equipment since the late sixties. I never had a problem ever. When I turned professional I switched to large (120 & 220) format. My F1 sat on a shelf except personal stuff. I have one DSLR, a Canon t1i which works for me and has since it was new. I have some point and shooters but nothing very good. I also used an Olympus OM 1 and a 4 but always went back to my Canon F1.
After forty years my F1 finally died. It will be missed.
