1. Original image with normal PPing.
2. Second image with more PPing and adding the horse.
3. Third image in B/W with a blue tint for an old western feel.
Which do you prefer and why?
#1 - it looks more natural to me

#1 is best. Might try a sepia look. #3 is too blue—-Not an old west look to me. I would crop #1 to cut out most of the foreground and on the right, too.
If the horse was in the original shot, it’s placement/position is not ideal. Distracting and lifeless pose.
I like photo #1 the best because the structure and fence shown in this photo really adds to the photo while in photos #2 and #3 the large horse covers the structure and fencing.
I would like to see #1 in B & W. Maybe a sepia tone would look really good.
The horse fits the seen nice, but in my opinion looks a tad bit out of scale.
Thanks for sharing the different versions.
#1 Love old barns just as they are.

ImageCreator: I think I will go with #1, and the reason I say this, is the horse looks out of place to me. I think that is because the barn looks abandoned and the horse is inside of the fencing...
#1 The distant haze takes up too much space in the top left. A tighter crop may improve it or walking more left when it was taken to get slightly more of the building. A little too much wide angle has pushed the building back when it is the main subject.
#2 The problem with the horse is firstly its head is in the roof and because it is the same colour half its head is gone. Had it been down eating grass would have worked better. There is nothing wrong with having good foreground detail, it often makes all the difference in a good landscape shot, but postioning is very critical it needs to be more to the left and more building then both will be in better balance.
#3 Problem with the B&W is the image is too flat lacks contrast. Yes the suggsstion to try sepia may work better but you need to get whites brighter and solid blacks blacker.
So if I had to pick one it would be #1 as it has fewer issues. Quite a pleasing shot a feeling of peacefulness comes from it.
#1...the horse see s out of place.
The original. The horse does nothing to help and, because of the lack of detail in the head, may even detract from the image. If you really want the horse in the image, position it so that all of the color beneath its belly is yellow - that patch of green draws the eye and, therefore, makes the b/w look better than the color. Final ranking 1st the original, distant 2nd B/W, 3rd color with horse added. This is my opinion ad mine, alone.
#1. The horse is a beauty but seems too large in comparison to the barn.
Definitely # 1. Good composition, beautiful colors. I like the simplicity. The horse in # 2 destroys this. If it had been a panoramic view with the horse off to one side, then maybe it would have worked, but the two together kills it for me. I love B&W, but I dont think that photo # 3 merits a second look, even without the horse. For one, it has that bluish tinge, which I find really distracting, and secondly, not enough tonal range. You have an excellent shot in # 1. I like it.
