Just an add on a director Vincent Laforet shot a short movie in NY with a Canon Mark II (I believe).
This one video created the huge wave of DSLR shooting in a whole new indie film rage.
Young first time filmmakers were everywhere and this is what we have today. A reneaisance.
Filmaking became affordable. Nikon had the first DSLR that had video the D90? But Laforet's video
make Canon's place in history the go to camera. Just a little history brands are important
innovation and pricing change that fast today.

Please site the source where Canon states that they have fallen behind in the innovation area.

I can't remember the source but I believe that it was in Canon Rumors an interview. Yes they admitted it.

I just sold my t5i kit and purchased a used 6d and some top rated glass. I do miss the t5i though and wonder if I made a mistake. I was looking at older photos taken with past cameras and found several sets that were absolutely tack sharp and stunning. They put my t5i and 6d to shame. Turns out that they were all taken with a Kodak p712 that I still have. No interchangeable lenses but f2.8 wide open and built in 24mm to 450mm plus digital zoom beyond, image stabilization, built in flash, and it takes raw photos too. I may end up selling my 6d gear and keeping the lightweight Kodak for every day use. However, I broke down and purchased a photography rated monitor and now I can see that the Kodak is a little less impressive than on my old non hd monitor. So my advice is to make sure you have at least a 2k monitor that is color accurate so that you can compare cameras properly.

I suggest Spyder 5 to make sure your monitor is properly balanced for color and lighting. I found mine at B&H. I use three Acer monitors and two are devoted to photography and video.

Canon makes good cameras. So does Nikon and many other brands are good as well. Why are you trying to incite a riot?

I have owned Canon cameras since the first Canon digital camera was sold. I now own two DSLR bodies and a number of lenses. My friend is a Nikon shooter and I have always felt his photos are sharper then mine. The fact that he is an excellent photographer and I am not might have something to do with it. I think in the right hands either brand will do the job.

Now that makes real sense.

But unless you asked, and maybe you have, could it be your friend thinks your pictures are sharper than his?

I suspect there are so few Canon postings simply because they perform exceptionally well for so many years.

I've used Canon equipment since 1970 when I bought my first one, an EXEE (I believe). It had interchangeable lenses but they were the screw-in type of mount. I learned a lot about photography with this camera and continued buying Canon cameras. I also had a couple of Hasselblads when I started shooting professionally - weddings, portraits and special events - and then sold it all and bought a FF 16MP Canon 1Ds Mark II in 2005. I can honestly say that in all this time (48 years) I've had only ONE problem with equipment that was quickly resolved by Canon at no cost since I had bought an extended warranty with the 1Ds Mk II (the camera was $8K at the time). I always took meticulous care with my equipment, especially since my livelihood depended on it when I began shooting professionally.

I'm retired now and the 1Ds Mk II is still up and running with no problems. A couple of years ago I finally bought a new Canon mirror-less camera - an M3 - and have been very pleasantly surprised with the performance and ease of handling.

Is it Neyecon or is it Kneecon? Canon has a more consistent pronunciation --- that's a very important factor when selecting which camera to buy. 😈

It is "Kneecon," just ask the Japanese -- but the English alphabet is used by many unsophisticated people to pronounce foreign names and this habit is engrained; there isn't much one can do about it. "Nisan" comes to mind - many people in the U.S.A. still pronounce it with the English "I"--LOL. People in general don't realize that even though the alphabet has the same letters, they are pronounced differently in latin languages (French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian etc.).

Hi HJ.. In the "real world" there are those that shoot commercially and those that don't.. I feel that the pro's mostly buy canon equipment, (me being one), & I see at events and TV coverage, mostly canon cameras and lenses... This is my opinion "only" and don't want to start a war between which is better Canon or Nikon!!!!... I feel the average non commercial photographer are more inclined to buy whats new on the market, and thus sell what they just bought recently... BUT, I am sure there will be those here that have their strong opinions too.... I have use Canon equipment for yrs without selling any of my Canon equipment..
