A few years back I planned a trip to do the Great Southwest, you know the place. Never been there. Always wanted to go. A week before we were to fly out, my MIL who lives with us fell and broke her pelvis. Insert long, hard-luck story here. We couldn't go. (She's OK now, BTW)

Has taken us all this time to get it together for another try, same trip (Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, Monument Valley, Page, Grand Canyon). All reservations made. All "I"s dotted, "T"s crossed. Scheduled to fly out early tomorrow. Now a big-ass storm (snow, wind, rain, yadda, yadda) is forecast to start tonight with major airport disruptions at Philly Airport tomorrow. Airline has already sent me e-mail warning that flight may be cancelled.

I know that you folks don't really know me but is the Cosmos trying to tell me to just "Punt" this trip idea? I mean, seriously!!

Better get right to it and start making arrangements for re-scheduling the trip at the very next possibility, I mean - now!

"Get in my car"??? SS, I live in Delaware. In Novembre I drove down to see my sister in South Carolina and found that quite long enough of a drive. But, if I can make this trip, I am scheduled to drive the rental car nearly 1500 miles in 13 days. I doubt I'll "feel young again" after that. Probably croak.

Mike D and DS, thanks for your suggestion. Gave it a try. Apparently the idea was not too original. All seats leaving today have been snapped-up. Karma again?

This is a photography forum. Maybe you were not aware of that. You can kind of assume the people posting here might just own cameras and take them along on major trips.

All I can say is I have a great deal of empathy for your mental health challenges. I hope you find a psychiatrist who is willing and able to help you.

From your statements it seems that you have already given up on your trip and are just using fictitious entities, "What the cosmos is trying to tell me" and "Karma" as excuses. Trips often become problematic when you factor in weather and ailing relatives. With the winter we are having in much of the country this year weather is really a crap shoot. You just have to keep trying.
IMO, if you can do so without losing a bunch of money cancel and re-book. If it is just flights and hotel reservations it shouldn't be a big problem. If there is a substantial amount of money on the line then grit your teeth, take your chances, and go.
Don't forget your camera!

Geesus man. Go back and read the OP. No where does he say anything about photography. Can you really be that much of a dunce?

If someone were to post at length on a restaurant forum about an opportunity to visit New Orleans or San Francisco would you not assume that the person intended to take in the local food?

Don't be a D-bag.

Seems like there are always folks here like Jim Bob. Fortunately, there seem to be many more like the rest of you. Thanks for your comments. My flight was cancelled.

A dah let's take a guess here...been planning on taking a trip for years to see scenic Vistas. Ummm posted to a photography forum is the second clue. Third clue is forum police wannabe questions motives behind the post. Some people really need to get a life and stop being so critical and cynical...loosen up...chill.

To the OP sorry to hear about the delays and hopefully it will have worked out when you read this.

This was posted in the General Chit-Chat (non-photography talk) forum! Read the top line Jim Bob. Doesn't have to be about photography!! However, I would expect that the OP has a trip planned to this beautiful part of our country that includes taking his camera and maybe even pulling it out at times.
