I think that the newer high end Nikon DSLR shutters are rated at or above 200K.

The reason why I didn't mentioned a particular model is because they are are all different. You are right about the higher end models. My D4s is rated for over 200,000 but how many photographers here use a D4s.

Thinking of purchasing Nikon D7500 refurb. Camera from Adorama. Would this be wise? It's $277 cheaper with just a 90 day warrants. Please give me some suggestions folks.

All my Nikons have been refurbs of late. All came in new condition and worked flawlessly. My latest, a D5600, came with 19 shutter activations.

Nikon refurbs come with a 90 day warranty. Cameta throws in their one year warranty for free with no hassle. They are excellent to deal with.

Adorama is good but finding their free or very cheap warranty extension was a little harder when I last tried.

A refurbished camera has been inspected and gone through my the manufacture where the spec are the same as a new camera. I purchased a refurbished D700 from Adorama and it worked fine.

Not all “refurbished” cameras or lenses are FACTORY refurbished, which means by the manufacturer. It could be refurbished by the seller which may just mean, wiped down, cleaned up, looks good enough, let’s sell it.

I would buy ONLY refurbished if the description stated “by Nikon/Canon/etc.".

I bought a “refurbished by Nikon” D7100 on Amazon, though the seller was Adorama, and when I opened the box, I could not tell it from brand new. It had less than 600 shutter actuations, which is practically new. They (the experts, here) say that anything under 2000 is good. You could get lucky and have only a few. I’ve read comments, here, from some who said they had ZERO on theirs. Maybe it was given as a gift, the person thought it was too complicated and brought it back. Who knows

Be sure it was refurbished by Nikon and has low shutter count.

The D7100 I got (from Adorama) came with 599.

I got mine from Adorama, though the actual purchase was made on Amazon. I asked about extended warranty. Amazon said to talk to Adorama. Adorama said that if it was bought directly from them, yes, no problem adding extra coverage. But because it was through Amazon, no, they couldn’t do it.

OK folks. The redundancy and repetition are OVERWHELMING.

Then don’t read them. I agree with you, because everyone thinks they’re the first to answer the original question, but nobody is being forced to read all of the comments.

Funny you mentioned this because a while back I asked Jeff Mitchel, the Nikon Rep for Northern California about buying refurbish cameras from Adorama & B & H. Jeff told me when Nikon factory refurbish a bunch of cameras they offer to sell them to wholesaler. Jeff said Adorama & B&H is not equipped to work on Nikon cameras, they only sell them.

Not to knock Adorama in any way, because they stand behind their products, but I bought a used Nikon D7200 which didn’t work right out of the box. I quickly exchanged it for a new one. Surprisingly, Walmart has amazing prices on new equipment. Check it out before you buy a used one.

Walmart online or in store can't discount new Nikon USA gear any more than anyone else can. The discounted items are gray market and Nikon USA won't repair them. Proceed with care.
