At that time Ron Partridge an expert on old photography, the son of Imogen Cunningham, did some research and he found out that these were taken by a French Artist who photographed and used these images as subjects for his work. These were taken around the late 1800 he said and by the looks the emulsion was applied just before exposing. The camera and the supplies were transported be mules. Boy, we have it easy today. LOL.

You were lucky to find plates in such good condition!!! The ones I found were not worth printing or I should say trying to print as the emulsion was lifting from the glass. We tried different methods but it was a waste of time and these were not as old as yours.
