Lake Vostok here we come.
I guess the white chunks are from the surface of the river and the brown mushy stuff is dirty river water that has mixed in and then frozen. Nice one but no log effect here.

That is something we don't get overmuch here so for me it is lack of opportunity. We did have a famous hail storm about three years ago that did serious body damage to thousands of cars.

Messy, mushy and looks pretty cold Rr
Well captured, wrap up warm and take the hip flask
We had some wintry weather, this year..
The neighbors were a little down on their luck,
So I put out some corn...
The view across the river from our house
early in the frost,
And my grandson in his first snowball fight with his daddy...
And the sunrise Jan. 20th was pretty...
Just don't mind the wire through the trees...
I put a little corn out for my neighbors

Not everyone suffers snow and ice in winter. The attached photos were taken in Alice Springs in Central Australia in July which is the middle of winter here. Blue sky, sunshine and dry river beds, although it sometimes gets a little frosty at night.
Like that second one a lot! Hard to comprehend -No Snow!
Glad to see ya! Hope you will share some more Australia!

You have seen seawalls, but have you ever seen icewalls?
Yeah I know I am getting pretty dull with these ice shots but they are my present project.....
