This photograph has been nagging at me and now I know why. It reminds me very much of the style of a photographer called Serge Anton. He specializes in high contrast shots of African and Asian peoples, usually in strong side lighting conditions to bring out the character in their faces. Here are some examples of his work.

Very good shot of an interesting character but extremely distracting bright highlights on the left back side which should be toned down a lot to focus attention on the old man.

As already mentioned, I would really like to see this shot in a download version. It is a very good one IMHO. I think you could even crop it to get a portrait and get a entirely different effect.

Great shot. Looks like he is thinking, "Seen that before and I pretty much know how it will shake out in the end".
