Great pictures. I also enjoy taking a photo of the occasional abandoned building; house, barn. I also muse about the fact that at one time years ago (how many?) a family lived there, and what it must have been like living there. Ditto, an old abandoned gas station or store that is deteriorating after many years and the fact that at one time there was probably the original owner who was so proud of what he had. Why these structures end up this way is a story of its own.
There are a lot of untold stories in these remote locations...I am drawn to these sites exactly because of the question as to what happened. They are like a mystery novel I can't put down. Often go back and look at photos of abandoned structures and reflect on what the hell happened. Just some of life's unpublished stories. However, going to local museum's in the area I have often found books that give insight into various people and their history. One such book I purchased on this trip at the Castle Dale Museum was "Images of America - The San Rafael Swell" published by the Emery County Archives...lots of local history and old photos. Gave me insight into several of the places (and families) we visited.
