[quote=BebuLamar .....I guess when he/she found out that the Rebel K2 isn't a "Really Really Good Camera" the OP got disappointed.[/quote]

Or, how much a" really good" camera might cost .....

That happens a lot here after the third or forth detour.

If you had Nikon the film cameras will use the same lens as digital this is one reason i like Nikon.

Brief Note:
All Canon EOS camera models (that includes Film & Digital since 1987) use all canon lenses (less "S" lenses for crop frame) built since 1987 & all of these lenses are autofocus -- Now If you happen to have the Canon lenses built prior to 1987 (FD lenses) Adaptors are available that will allow their use on Canon EOS models --- So the difference between Nikon vs Canon regarding lenses is very slite

I don't think a really good 35mm SLR is that expensive.

How do you define 'use', and why is this relevant?

My understanding is that no lens can be focused by both N7007 and D5600.

However every EF lens can be focused by every Canon camera, both film and digital, since Canon went to EF.
Every KAF lens can be focused by every Pentax camera, both film and digital, since Pentax began AF.

While I was still pondering, my link pal gave me a nikon n75. I like it but I was enjoying the hunt.

Thanks to all. Tally ho! 😇

I have the Canon EOS Rebel K2 SLR film camera in my sights. Used, of course. There are a lot of them at both Ebay & Amazon so -- if I go for this one -- I will have to do a lot of research to raise the odds of buying one in good condition.

There are 2 zoom lens options that interest me -- 28-80mm & 28-90mm. both f3.5-5.6 The spec say that the 80 uses a USM motor to drive the autofocus whereas the 90 uses a DC motor (I have no idea what this means.)

ADVICE PLEASE..... 😇
1- was this a really good camera in its day?
2- if so, which of the 2 zoom lenses should I go for?

Admittedly I did not read all x pages of replies but just in case no one else said it: A SLR is a film camera. You don't have to add "film camera" in the description because those don't know that are not your target audience. Just saying...

I think the OP just wanted to make sure that there is no respond about a digital camera.

I shoot Canon F-1's & A-1s. IMO a great system with some awesome glass out there. Never failed me yet.
Good luck with your decision. JR.

It was free... a gift. The giver told me that KenRockwell.com gave the n75 a favorable review, even though it's evidently a gonzo in plastic. The gift camera looks and feels brand new. The giver said his dad left it behind. I love it. Time will tell whether the Nikon loves me.

So the $$ I saved will go into my "buy-a-Martin-D28-fund" instead ... a pricey guitar that I have lusted after for quite a while.

After my budget recovers, I shall hunt for a second film camera -- a Canon slr model that accords with the excellent counsel in this thread. Many thanks to all for helping me learn.

In the EOS line, I had an A2 which was the top Enthusiast level camera. Very much like the XXD series today. I have used an EOS1 it is a Pro body and very well built ans weather sealed, and large and heavy. Weather sealing keeps moisture and dust out of the body. But with Pro use, the wear CAN be heavy. And like cars, the "Soft" parts wear first. I urge a full inspection and trial time with any purchase. look carefully at the body seals--remember it is a film camera so you've got gaskets around the film door AND the lens mount and any other Doors like the battery.

The 282-80 USM lens I believe (the one I had) is image stabilized. If so go for it.

All in all, there are a number of good enthusiast level and pro level EOS bodies selling for such low prices that I would avoid any Rebel or Elan bodies unless they were nearly new.

Good luck with your fil adventure.

look for a canon f1 in good condition - you will never regret it.
