Whats the deal !!!! Why are the locations of so many member locations in hiding ... are you running from the law or just ashamed of where you live. It would be fun to know just how diverse the group is

"In hiding" is the default location listed bt ADMIN for any member who does not disclose an actual location, for whatever reason they choose not too.

There are people here from all over the world, at least 6 of the 7 continents are represented. Enjoy what they post, don't worry about where they are from. If they don't want to say or can't be bothered it isn't important.
You ask to many questions, men in black will be paying you a visit if you keep probing!!!!

Why do you want to know where I am from when you get upset if I ask you where your camera come from?
I used to question that as well, but it can add to info in Exiff data, etc, and contribute to easily pinpointing the exact location of a person. It's just another facet in identity protection that some choose.
I choose to remain anonymous. I have a wife, kid, and two dogs. There are too many crazies out there to endanger them.

There is also the possibility that some users have the audacity to think that "Location" is an option and not mandatory. How dare they be right!

Some people like to hide!!
The amount of people who complain about Trolls and bad language maybe worry that someone will actually come and visit them!
Others like to add quotations - to show they are able to google something nice. Or add a list of their kit - hoping someone will 'Not visit' them.
Different strokes keeps the world spinning

Yeah, you just feel safe because you think all the crazies are on our side of the big pond. But you never know.

Many people are happy to provide that information, until some of the trolls attack or start telling people how they think or what their values are, based upon providing a location. Unfortunately there are stereotypes out there, and once it starts happening it just gets tedious. It isn't necessarily a matter of shame or pride, so much as avoiding people jumping to conclusions that are usually very far from the truth, which is why my published location no longer states San Francisco.
I would ask you to think about what conclusions you might draw from that information. It could suggest many things, but how confident would you be in their accuracy?

I think people should do what they are most comfortable with and need not justify.
