I'd be mighty surprised if he came out with a reasoned argument. It's much easier to just call us bigots.

Same here. I’d probably think there was something seriously wrong with him (or her?). I don’t get the appeal being nothing but a smart-mouth wannabe....or a lame imitation of stupid. You gotta give ‘me credit for their persistence, though. Most normal people would’ve grown tired of it long ago. They do seem to think they’re pretty sharp.....probably don’t realize they are the only ones who think so.

You know and I agree with both of you. It seems whenever we ask liberals to discuss why it is not good for America to allow free flow across our borders, they shut up. All they want to seem to do is scream that somehow the "dreamers" (I put that in quotes because we all are dreamers) have some sort of liberty that Obama manufactured when he signed a bill into law. Presidents don't do that, but O thought he was above the law, apparently. He gave these people a shallow hope that the Trump administration has to deal with now...along with cleaning up all Obama's other ridiculous regulations. I think because Obama pulled DACA out of his hat, that illegal aliens think they can do it too.

Usually those things are determined by the SUPREME COURT!
Once the Supreme Court says give them services, the US is bound by that legality, whether you like it or not!!!

Nice try, but I'm not surprised. Take a phrase of mine out of context and then attack it.

Here is my WHOLE quote:

"I know for sure that I would want people who want to come live here to at the very least have a thorough medical examination, which is one of the biggest requirements for citizenship. I would think they would want to speak the language of the country they want to move to (which is a requirement also). Illegals think that because there is a large group of them, they have a voice, somehow. They demand things for themselves without having to obtain those things the way every other person living legally in the country has to. Why should we have to give them that? I'm sick of paying for them, and that part is only going to get worse if we keep our borders open.

Yes, it is more stringent to become a US citizen now than our forefathers, but there are good reasons for that. Crime, disease, drugs, mental illness all play into those reasons.

WTF Does this have to do with the Supreme Court??? It's about ME and YOU having to pay for illegal aliens living here illegally. Do you like giving a percentage of your income to these people? If so, I suggest you volunteer to put a family of five of them into your own home and see what it's like.

Hey Sharpie, why don't you give us some of those reasons why we should let anybody who wants to, cross our borders. Drainbamage is right when he says "It seems whenever we ask liberals to discuss why it is not good for America to allow free flow across our borders, they shut up."

How about proving us wrong about Liberals not wanting to discuss any immigration specifics.

I honestly think, if Shooter sits down and thinks about it, he has the ability to offer a reasonable debate. I've seen it in some of his rants. I would love to see an opinion rather than an attack. I just happened to like this blogger's perspective - it made sense to me.

Yeah....there’s that pesky part about them interpreting laws, though. Thanks to Obama, DACA isn’t a law. Too bad, so sad.

2) They do work Americans won’t do - Not true. They do work Americans won’t do for $7 an hour (especially if Americans can collect welfare and unemployment instead). Of course, if you got rid of the illegals, the jobs wouldn’t pay $7 an hour. The people who wanted the work done would have to pay a wage that was attractive enough to get Americans to do the work. And it might even be enough to get Americans off the unemployment and welfare dole and back into the taxpaying workforce!

There is an implication that if they are LEGAL immigrants that they won't also be vying for these low paying jobs.

I think that's NOT a valid assumption.

Some of this work (eg, harvesting crops) is back breaking.....something that today's younger generations aren't interested in.

I'm waiting too. Every time I ask a Liberal the immigration question, "what would you do?", they always disappear.

If you ask any Conservative their opinion on immigration, or any other subject, they will be more than glad to tell you what they think. With Liberals, it can often be like pulling teeth. I don't mean to direct this toward Thom because he often opines, but Bill Bennett once described a Liberal as "someone who absolutely refuses to defend his position."

IMHO, No One believes that we should let people into this country Illegally.

As with everything else, there are costs to preventing people from crossing our birders illegally.

We have multiple "sub topics" under the guise of illegal aliens.
1) Adults who have come here seeking....whatever
2) The children these adults brought with them
3) Children of these adults that were born in this country, and, therefore, are now Citizens.

There is NO 1 size fits all for the above, IMHO.

I am not arrogant enough to think that I have "the" answer to this problem.

However, we should be able to discuss it without name calling and anger.

Maybe, just maybe, we could come up with something.

Congress used to be able to discuss and arrive at solutions.

How about we throw out all the political BS and get back to that?

This is not a play on words, but the whole point is that many Americans want to make it legal for anybody to cross our borders. In their view, what we call "illegal" today should be made "legal" tomorrow. It is all dependent on what you want to call "illegal."

Let me try the question out on you. Who would you prevent from entering our country or who would you prevent from becoming legal citizens of our country? You don't have to have "the" answers, but have you got any ideas or criteria?
