I wont argue with your point but the 7200 is an awesome addition to the Nikon line and now is a much better purchase because the 7500 is on the market.

I’m a Nikon fan and had the D7200. Very good camera. I don’t believe that the D7500 is a better camera, just different. I think it stands on its own, having features and capabilities of more than one other camera. And I don’t know if it was every Nikon’s DX flagship. I thought the D500 was.

The major difference is in cropping, the extra 4MP help. The D500 has 4MP more than my D4 (16MP camera) and would chose the D500 for wildlife over the D4. The D4 for event photography and higher ISO performance. Each camera has their own special capabilities that makes getting a planned shot easier for the brain behind the camera.

First of all, it's 3 not 4. Second. There is a difference going from 16 to 21, that's an increase of 32%. Going from 24 to 21 is a reduction 12%. Also, the pixel pitch is greater in the D7500 and the D500 compared to the D7200.

Actually only 3.1 megapixels. The D500 has 20.9 megapixels. But, the $6500 D5 has less than 24 megapixels too. Not, a bad camera, I would say.

I was not taking exception to your comment about IQ; opinion is opinion and that's fine with me.
I was commenting on the fact that you were equating a 33% gain with a 12% loss. Also 3.3 is much closer to 3 than 4.

I just learned something today. That the D7200 actually has 24.2 megapixels instead of 24. Not much, but still the correct number.

But the image taken with the D7200 is only 24MP of 6000x4000 pixels.
