Good Morning-
Did anyone notice that Nikon D7500 was chosen as Enthusiast Camera of the Year by Imaging- Resource? And my point is ... :)
It was actually rated better than the D7200 even without the dual memory card slots and battery grip. Imagine that!
Now this isn't to get a war started- it's just to give a poke to those that were so negative without even trying out the camera.
I have the camera and really am enjoying it.
Sometimes we bet and our horse comes in first. Congrats.
I've had mine a few months and love it... Consumer Reports, hmmm!

No, did not notice that but not surprised. D7500 is obviously a step forward from the D7200. It is a good consumer version of the D500.

The CAMERA will never make the photographer. It has always been, and will always be, the photographer that makes the camera. And, to answer your question, of course the D7500 is a better camera than the D7200, otherwise, Nikon would not have made it. Don't be silly.
Went from D7100 to D7500 love it so far :)

I just checked the web site for award eligibility, all cameras were released in 2017. That means the D7200 and many fine cameras, that may be surpass newer cameras are not eligible.
I went to their website and was surprised to read this about the D7500.
"It's no longer the DX-format flagship ..."
When was it ever considered the flagship? I thought it was always considered an in between.
It has a very good pedigree, and if I had been in the market for a new camera I would probably have one.

Save your money it will not make your pictures any better.
I was one of the naysayers regarding the release of the D7500. There were a few posts, created on this forum, highly criticizing the camera. It didn't have dual SD card slots, it had only 20.9 megapixels instead of 24. There was no battery grip available for it. And one poster claimed that older Nikon lenses were incompatible with it. The other advantages were ignored, which I finally discovered after watching some convincing videos and online articles about the camera. Indeed, the D7500 is better than the D7200. The D3300 was voted as best entry level camera over all camera brands, when still in production. Now, we have the D3400. Good, but not better than its predecessor. IMO.
How did it stack up against the D500? I have several cameras among them the D7200 and I love the IQ of that camera above the D500 (which I also own).

A VW beatle will get you there as easy as a Cadillac. Both driver arrived at the same time. So I leave my D100, in raw, post processing does the rest and what's my point... OK, I need a new camera but I can still do great photography. Ho!! The beatle a 1958 and the Cadillac is also a 1958. Might as well go in style. And however many people fits in the Cadillac can be stuffed into the beatle, remember the 60's. I'm not sure if I have a point in this story.
