she bought it at the Smithsonian gift store in DC.

Notice that "stabilize" is on. I wonder if that keeps it from tipping over?
Na....that would take a gyroscope....
Looks good. I hope it has a large aperture.
I've had a similar one but mine is Nikon. The main problem is that because the base is the "back cap" for a lens, it is top heavy and tips easily. SO, I use it for pens and pencils... lol. I do love it but I didn't want it NEAR my computers. I got mine from Nikon. However, I doubt that Canon users would be thrilled with a Nikon coffee cup. It is well insulated and works great if you have a cup holder that would hold it. But don't set it flat on the desk.

I'd probably get it confused with my other lenses and try to attach it to my camera, spilling my drink all over the place.
But that's just me.
Pretty neat! Next year, they should add a camera to the bottom as a reservoir for those big drinkers!
That's quite nice. I've seen those, but have never liked the smallish end resting on the table. That just looked too unstable.

Just ordered one. Thanks for the link.

Wait a bit.... at CES they'll be announcing the new "DS" version mug..... along with a 600mm size.... in camo color! ;-D
"As a Nikon nut I could suggest that this is the only thing a Canon lens is good for. But in the spirit of the Holiday Season I will say, NICE MUG."
And in the same spirit the Canon users won't make any reference to a possibility of MUG and Nikon appearing in the same sentence!!!!!!!!
Best wishes for 2018 billnikon.
I have one of those; my sister-in-law gave it to me.
My son gave me one last year (Nikon 24-70) and I haven't used it for the same reason mention, base seems too small. I'm clumsy and have a tendency to reach for my coffee cup without taking my eyes off computer screen. My wife threatens to super glue a coaster to the bottom. He prefaced the presentation with "it's not what you think it is".
Very neat. Just be careful where you pour your coffee ☕
Doesn't look very stable.
Just don't leave it visible in the car. Some junkie might break in thinking it is a $500.00 lens, rather than a $5.00 mug
