SocialSecurity was never meant to be your only source of retirement income. It was designed to supplement your retirement. Where was your complaint 7-8 years ago??

My source material is the statement provided to my mother from Social Security, the government has flooded the web and news agencies with denial, but a simple reading of the earnings and deduction statements sent out to SS recipients tells a different story, she banks less after her raises than she did before, significantly less than a few years ago... That $716 billion dollars that Obamacare took from the Medicare budget was not all about savings as the government said it would be.
So your source is your mom? And you are expecting us to ignore all of the information in the public record because your mom says so?
Actually, you were responding to the OP that noted that the current Medicare premium wiped out the SS COLA by saying that the root cause is that the ACA caused the price of the various Supplemental plans to increase.
I know you and your Mom don't agree with this but the fact is that the premiums were for Part B, not any of the supplemental plans. The problem is that health care costs continue to rise and that has nothing to do with Obama, as much as you would like to blame him for everything.
If you are really oissed off about the cost of health care, then take that up with the Republicans who wrote into the law that established Part D that Medicare is forbidden from using their vast purchasing power to negotiate for lower drug prices.
THAT was nothing less than a blow job for Big Pharma and both taxpayers and Medicare recipients pay for it because the Republicans know what exactly which side of the bread is buttered. I would provide you links but you have already told me that the web is full of lies, so why bother? We in the fact based world really have nothing to offer you.
Let us know if your mom changes her mind.

No dumbass, my mother is 90 years old and I read any important correspondence for her. You can read and say anything you want the media never did and still does not report fairly regarding Obamacare, they simply take the former administrations line as fact without much regard to reality. They are still reporting that the $716 billion cut from the budget really had no impact on seniors themselves, I am telling you that is bullshit. The facts are pretty simple for anyone receiving Social Security, the raises in Social Security have been accompanied by increased deductions for Medicare options.

How do we know your mom is telling the truth?? No one has said for sure they are cutting Social Security. When and by whom was that ever said?? Your "fact-based" world that you alleged to be true is because it caters to your prejudices, your bigotry, your biases your intolerance.

Do try to keep up. I wasn't offering my mom as a source. Direct the question to Blurry. I would never enter a brain fart forum like this leaning on my mom as a source.

The GOP's new tax bill gives everyone some sort of tax relief, Or so I'm told.
What about us seniors on Social Security?
The last two years we received a cost of living raise in our checks !!!!!!!!, did we?
Last year and again this year my wife got a raise in her Social Security, Then received
an increase in what they with hold for Medicare of exactly what the raise is.
That's a cost of living raise?
Last year I received a cost of living raise.
Last year my raise was exactly what my increase in Medicare was. I made out this
year. Another cost of living raise, But the Medicare payment is raised all but $2.00
of what my raise is.
They only give seniors about a 2% raise if the cost of living is up 3% anyway.
Gee is this why more and more seniors can't pay for food and meds the same month?
Now coming up on the agenda is saving on the Social Security cost.
Making Seniors pay tax on their S.S. benefits, and cutting the raise in benefits
HELP.

What anyone pays in federal taxes depends upon total income, regardless of source, less deductions. The brackets and percentage due has been reduced across all, incomes. As a result over 80% of americans (elderly included) will see a reduction in taxes due. While the elderly(I am one) will get a tax break, they should not get a special rate, by virtue of staying alive.
