Nowadays, I just grab 'em by the tail, and quick rush to the door with 'em to throw them out before they can bend up and get you in the arm!!!

Your words reveal a vivid imagination - even when we lived in western Massachusetts, we had no experience coming even close to what you describe; I suppose a terrified squirrel might seem vicious to you, but if so all it would need is a gracious way out of the situation it had wandered in to.

The picture below is of the first squirrel I've seen in our yard in the past week. This picture is uncropped {otherwise you wouldn't see the distracting tree on the left edge}, taken from our living room window with a 300mm lens mounted on my 1.5 crop K-30. This is all the closer s/he got to the house.

Bats? ... Nope ... never had any bats IN the house ... but I found one on the overhang over the front steps, one day, whilst clearing off leaves ....

Possums? ... Nope, thank God! ... never had one of them in my house, either. But, when I came back from Canada in 2002 - I found an owl in the office!
I've had quite a few of 'em through the years ... ... (show quote)

The possum that got into our house by chewing through plastic heating pipe was eating the cat's food {and the cat was cowering upstairs} when we got home. It snarled at me, but I hit it in the rear with a broom until it ran out the door.

Nothing nearly dramatic as your tale.

So I see, Tom ... and the way you've photographed it - makes it seem even smaller ... neat!

I didn’t really. They are tiny and don’t trust humans. Plus the trees in Oregon are huge!!!!!!!

I'm comfortable with his reply (I assume somewhat tongue-in-cheek which was "Republicans")!

A man who called himself "Rupert", an eleven-year member of the Pentax Forum, first got me interested in squirrels in addition to birds. We were told yesterday that he had died on Tuesday, so when I saw my first squirrel here in a week, I posted two images in honor of "Rupert".

I would like to post one of my squirrel shot, an Alaska Ground Squirrel taken during a trip to Alaska.

I hadn't realized how many types of squirrel there are until Rupert started his long running thread.

Well, I'm not ... since Republicans are known to be human ... and the LIVE species (as opposed to dead ones, like Lincoln) are also - LIVE ...

So, the answer makes NO sense, to me, whatsoever ....

And, THAT's all I'm gonna say, on the subject, Mainer ....

A "TERRIFIED" squirrel, huh, RE?

Not sure which one of us was the most terrified ... he was destroying my house!!!! ....

When they get in ... all you can do is open all the doors, and keep chasing them, until they go out one. But, in some rare instances, you HAVE to take the bush by the tail .... and then - HEAVE-HO!!!!!

Naw, never happen. You see the Marine Corps taught me combat swimming. No need to hold my breath, and 'going under' ain't never gonna happen!
