That's so funny. All the devils trying to define Christianity. But apparently there is a few genuine Christians here. Just ask yourself a question Bob. What kind of Photography do you usually do. Myself I like architecture and landscapes, mostly. As a Christian, you know ,just ask Jesus what he would want you to do. He always answers, doesn't he?
1 John 5King James Version (KJV)

5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Get thee behind me, and to the attic.

"Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men" Matthew 16:22-24King James Version (KJV)

Well, some of what is said today in the name of Christianity needs to treated as the words of Satan.

Once again, let's get this stuff where it belongs in the attic.

It's Christmas and should be time of celebration, but if it continues some of us may need to reload! Please do not give us a reason to do so.

Cathedrals are found in cities not towns. You can get small cities and large towns the difference is the cathedral. I also doubt you will find a European cathedral that has ever become a mosque. Some disused churches have become mosques or apartments or carpet warehouses. As have school houses, communities change over time anyway. Tends to be people who have no interest in attending a church who bellyache the loudest when a disused church becomes a mosque.

Where I am there are mostly catholic churches and the catholic organisation I work for hires out halls on Sundays for evangelical christians and has done so for several years, eventually they may found a new church in the town. I'm not a religious person myself but I have no problem with people trying to be good people. I just don't need a God to tell right from wrong.

namaste.

blackest, it's not necessarily knowing just right from wrong, but God uses those who know Him (Ephesians 2:8-10).

I like photos that send a message. I know you aren't into taking photos of people - but how about looking for things that show Christian love... people serving in a food line, carolers singing peace on earth, someone helping an elderly lady into a car, bringing food to a neighbor, kids doing yard work for a shut in. Simple things, with a verse added or a comment about what the photo means. An the more light side... something that has been rambling about in my head are all these deflated Santas in people's yards during the day. How about a photo of one of those with a clever comment like 'Christmas with out Jesus is empty', or 'there just isn't any stuffing when you take Christ out of Christmas.' There is a 'flat santa' just hanging upside down off the roof during the day near my home. It is just too funny... "too much party and not enough Jesus??" I don't know. Have some fun with it.

Wow, there's nothing like religion to get everyone pissed at each other...unless maybe it's Canon vs. Nikon.

Obviously, bob being a "serious christion", is unaware of what shooting religious themes are.
He asked, so it's right for some to tell him what to shoot and others to question his motives or give their opinions.
If he is not interested in hearing other people's thoughts and opinions about religion or otherwise he can always put EVERYBODY on "ignore", it's what all "serious" cowards here do that want to insulate themselves from anything they don't agree with or want to hear!!!

Today is the Solstice. The Time of the Wintersmith. Christian religions mostly adopted the rites and traditions of older and more established religions, and they still can't even agree on the dates of Christmas...

Hristos se rodi, but when?

Or, how old farts can still rock the world on the solstice...

How about focusing on the natural world in an effort to show the intrinsic beauty of God's creative handiwork? Such photography may be a blessing to all believe in God whether Christian or other faiths.

Just knowing right from wrong is never enough, it's doing something about it. I don't expect anyone to assist my choices. Gods free to do as he pleases with whoever really i'm just not in his fan club. God gives people cancer daily , blinds children with parasites, that god seems to be a real psychopath. You can argue god gives you free will but nobody chooses cancer. God seems pretty unreliable to be fair.

I read somewhere when Icelanders were asked what they believe in 98% said "themselves" and i'm with them. I don't need a nudge from God to figure out what to do. I don't always make the best choices, who does. If you look at the christian bible you see Jesus repeatedly gave examples of good choices to make, don't think he ever said let me get back to you on that one.

So really balls in your court, believer or not, you don't need a sign to do the right thing and neither do I. Have a good Christmas.

Short little story. It's 1967 and I'm on my third tour. There are a ton of Marines who profess no faith in God or any of that other BS. Then the $hit hits the fan and you are in a world of hurt. You can't green the LZ you are running low on ammo and if you get flanked your F*#*D. At those critical junctions; God is a word you hear a lot of and if you get whacked and it hurts like hell; Jesus is a name you hear a lot of. When your safe and sound and the only worry is when are going to get your next pint life is easy. Be as ballsie as you want. Let's hope you never start to run low on ammo......PS my old man was from Limerick. We have been over many times.

Blackest: I like your style, you are getting close to the heart of the matter. On a world wide basis Christians are more known for their barbaric colonization than for ever following the beatitudes of Jesus. I give you the American Indians and Hiroshima as two prime examples. My eyes were opened to the matter by "A Hero of A Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell. Follow that up with "The Power Of Myth" and it will clear up any of these issues.

To Papa Joe: Your suggestion, out of four pages, is so far the only one that fits what I am thinking to do. I think it is a great idea. I'm waiting to see if anyone else comes up with anything else that I think would fit what I'm wanting to do. To you and everyone else that responded, Thank You and have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year. Bob

How about taking pictures of homeless people? That would not only show the hypocrisy of most Christians, but it may actually make some of them ACT like a Christian.
