Which is why you use the TAP-in. With that you can calibrate a different focal lengths and distances.

True but the op didn't say which lens G1 or G2.

Yes, I do have the Tap-In. So good to confirm that I can calibrate at home. Many thanks.

I have never "tuned" a lens and if you ahve been following the remarks form those that have done this, more end up wishing they never tried it. What is wrong with the lens that makes you want to do this anyways?

If yo are not getting the results you want, it MAY be useful. First though you need to take controlled test shots at different distances and focal lengths to see if that is really the problem. With long zooms like this one custom zoom limitations that reduce focus hunting may be more useful than adjusting the AF. But if the tests show that, in a controlled situation, the lens is front or back focusing, adjustments may be necessary.

I thought this lens worked with the Tap-In so you could calibrate and customize at home. Does yours not use the Tap-In?

I did not opt for the Tap-in, at purchase and have little confidence I could do a well as they could. I also read what they do in-house is superior to what the lay person can do with it.

Is your lens the newer G2 series or the older version ?? I recently purchased the newer G2 version of the 150-600 but have not had much time to really work with it.

Hey FiddleMaker. It is the G2. I have not had as much time to shoot with it as I would have liked. Winter hit and most of my subjects have gone to warmer climes. I'm trying to get things sorted out for the spring return. I haven't noticed anything amiss, but keep reading they can really dial in the lens better, if they do it to the camera body. And since I got it for the reach, anything that will sharpen it up at 600 seems like a win-win to me.

I use the Tammy 150-600 G2. Calibrating at 600mm may cause the shorter focal points to be soft.

That might be true, but if they can dial in 300 and above, I'll be happy. I have lots of other good glass for the wider end of things.

Hello buddy. Nothing is wrong. I am going on info read somewhere that says even greater precision can be achieved, if the lens is calibrated to the body. I am hoping this is especially true at the long end: where it will get the most use.
