To capture a moment in which light and the surface that reflects it looks interesting.

Aside from doing it commercially or for some $ gigs! What does this hobby do for you?

I mostly do it for fun, but it’s also therapeutic for me. Taking photographs is a way to escape from everyday life and problems.

Because I took picture of m y children 30 plus years ago, I can share them with my granddaughters. They like seeing their mommy doing the same thing are are doing now. So sharing memories is at top of my list.

That a tough question to answer, but I've been fascinated by photograhy since I saw a $0.98 camera in the window of a local drug store when I was about eight years old. I've been buying and using cameras ever since. I enjoy it.

Allows me to 'pause', create memories and exercise my left (technology/software/applications) and right (creativity/emotion/focus) brain.

Living in Guatemala turned out to be a bit more challenging than expected, and from time to time very frustrating. At times it has been so frustrating I felt like I was going full frame nuts! I desperately needed something to distract me from this crazy reality I live in.

Photography has been an interest since childhood. During a solo trip to Europe, with a borrowed Canon, in January this year, I made up my mind. Back home in GT again, I ordered the best camera I’ve ever had.

Photography is my distraction from what otherwise would have a negative impact on my daily moods, my attitude, and ultimately my personality.

With the camera I have to search for the good parts, the beautiful parts, this country have to offer. Because they do exist! The camera and my constant search for good photos forces me to look for the beauty of life. And while doing it I shut off the rest of this crazy world and its people.

For me it is meditation and therapy at the same time. As a result of this self invented “therapy” I’m a better person emotionally. And the results can also be seen in beautiful pictures.

Great question--deserving of some thought, without getting annoyingly serious.
I have never been a pro---but since my Dad gave me a Brownie Starflex TLR over 50 years ago, I have taken pictures always hoping to capture a slice of life that is unique, definite, true. Snapping the shot is the possibility/promise of making an image that is compelling on its own, but also might reflect something about me.

No, it wasn't. And besides, there were no other witnesses.

When I go into a friend's or relative's home and see one or several of my pictures hanging on the wall, that really makes it worthwhile.
