Since the light works when the switch is used, there has to be a switch in there somewhere. My bet....where the hinges are inside the oven itself. On one side or the other. Possibly, where the top of the door meets top of oven when closed?

There might be a proximity switch for the oven light.

Jerry, you can have my stove, it's a bit stodgy looking, I haven't cleaned the inside for 5 years, but the oven light works wonderful! Let me be the first generous caring UHH'er on the list! Maybe everyone will donate a stove and your problems will be over?

Great! When can you bring it? You're not very far away, so how about this weekend? A little over two days of straight driving will get you here.

As for cleaning my oven, seriously? No one ever looks in there. Why bother?

That's as tough one. Leave out the hyphen, and I'd say no. With the hyphen, the answer is yes. : )

You know, now I'm wondering if the light ever came on when the door was opened. Maybe I'm confusing the oven with the clothes dryer. They're both hot, they both have pull-down doors, and they both have lights inside.

Exactly! And I don't have to worry about a clean stove getting dirty. : )

Well...if no one ever looks in there, then why do you need a light?
