I generally consider it a poor decision to profit off of someone's life mistake using photography like this. IMHO, there comes a point when crossing the line for profit is something like this is of poor taste. Having the right to do something does not always translate into making it the right thin

Now, that being said, if the photo is of someone who disrobes for the public on any kind of regular basis, then go for it. A Google search can answer that question (providing you have any idea of what you're looking for). In the long run, giving the availability of porn on stars, I doubt you would make very much on it anyway...

Send it back to the lady with a note... You will have a friend for a long time who will respect you... And respect is worth more than the cash..

I have acquired the original b&w negative. The (female) subject is now a movie star. The photo, a nude, was made in 1985 when the woman turned 19. (Well before she became famous). Along with the negative, I also now own the model release and copyright and any other rights.

I would like to make some bucks, but this situation is new to me.

- Limited edition prints?
- Screen image onto T-shirts?
- License image for posters?

I’d appreciate suggestions, and pointers to useful articles and sites.

Note: I do not expect opposition nor cooperation from the celebrity.

Contact an attorney, do not pass go, do not collect $200.00. And, by the way, a trash can ten years old still smells better than what you want to do.

Be an honorable gentleman and destroy it or return all of it to the individual.

The amount of money you would make is not worth the potential risk. Forget it, and enjoy it yourself. >Alan

I am not siding or not siding with this guy but let's get some things straight here:
1. If he truly has the correct paper work, what risk is there? None.
2. "Be an honorable gentleman and destroy it or return all of it to the individual." what? Presumable she took money for the shots. Is she offering to refund the money?
She is the one that is potentially dis-honorable.
3. "I generally consider it a poor decision to profit off of someone's life mistake using photography like this." How do you know this was a mistake? Judging by twitter and instagram it seems there is nothing that says this is correct. He clear states "I do not expect opposition" so if she is ok with it, where do you get off?
4. "but I wouldn't personally wish to exploit a model without his or her permission." The signed release is her permission.
5. "This is the lowest of low, trying to make money off the work of others." last I checked pros sell their images so other can make money off it. He got this legally fair and square. That's how it works - you sell your work to others, the make money off it.
6. "It's fine by me if the OP wants to do so but please don't ask us how to do it. " speak for yourself. Then why did you post the the thread at all?

Ha ha ha "Los-Angeles-Shooter" has you dancing to his tune. Just keep feeding the troll. He's hungry for your love.

Selling an image is not the same as selling rights to the image!!!!!!

I know this, and obtained copyright, model release, and all rights, in addition to the physical 'artifact' (the negative).

If you sell an image you are indeed selling some set of rights to the image.
You may not have sold all rights to it, but you have sold some set of rights to it.
If you sell and image to a magazine, you have sold the right to publish it - perhaps just once.
If you sell and image to a stock company you may have sold all rights to future sales - and so on.
That's what selling an image means.
Your response is too vague to actually have any meaning.

Since you have no idea what he looks like, you have a LONG wait.
With what's going on in the country right now, do you really think this would make even the local news?
You should check "Los-Angeles-Shooter" post history - he is a pro alright - a pro troll and you guys are such big suckers for it.
He made this whole thing up just to watch you guys dance.

As to the bold-faced slur, you are lying outright. If you care to back your defamatory lies with $10,000, do so. And in the meantime, you may wish to moderate your language.
