That's why I go with an Apple computer it has all the new software in the computer-no hassle as long as you do the downloads which include the latest software for Nikon Canon Fuji etc. Once you get used to Photos it does all the editing steps I need for Raw and jpeg etc. It took awhile to really get the Photo program down but in most cases it's very adequate. Also like Cloud for storage. I have been serious about Photography for 30 years. They do their homework. The new Retinal screens give super visuals-I get the most memory they have.

I had trouble with jpg files several LR iterations ago, back in my pre-CC days. I think the jpg header format changed maybe 5 years back, so 7200's jpgs may be not recognizable by the archaic forms of Adobe software.

Shoot JPEG and forget RAW...... these "problems" then go away

Download the codec for Win 10, then copy the files again to a new folder just to be safe. You should be able to view the file in Windows explorer.
If you can view them in Explorer you should be able to see them in Capture NX-d. Go to the Help menu and click on updates in case you downloaded an older version.

Thanks for all your response. As an update, I did order Elements 18, but after long phone conversations with Adobe, they said it will not help. They said all my drivers need to be updated to the tune of $145.00 per year. I'm going to wait until Elements 18 arrives tomorrow, install it and see what happens. This is so crazy! You buy a new camera and can't upload the images.

In the UK you can download Photoshop cs2 free. I think it would be able download raw etc using this. Worth a try.

Unfortunately Photoshop CS2 would not have a recent enough version of ACR to directly load Nikon D7200 NEF files however it could be used with Adobes DNG converter ->compatible DNG file -> Photoshop CS2 or even Photoshop Elements.

I have updated my drivers without paying a penny! You must have gotten their Mumbai Level 1 support desk.

You need Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) of at least version 9.0 to process D7200 raw files, and that means you need Photoshop elements 13 or higher to support ACR 9.0. One option is to use Adobe’s free DNG converter to convert the Nikon raw files to DNG format and then import into PSE. Alternately, you can buy a copy of Elements 13 or higher or subscribe to Photoshop and Lightroom cc for $9.95 per month.

What TriX says.

Note, PSE9 is a fossil. Get PSE15 or better yet Ps CC & Lr CC for $9.95 per month.

Ps CS2 is even more a fossil than PSE9 is.

Adobe says lots of things don't work when they don't know what they are talking about. Like telling me Ps CS6 will not work with Windows Vista (back when I was running that OS), yet the same copy of Ps CS6 from its DVD-ROM runs fine on my new PC with Windows 10.

Now about buying new cameras and getting an unpleasant downloading surprise goes, that is normal to have to seek a New OS every few newer cameras. For example. A few months ago I purchased a used Pentax K-3 camera and was pleasantly surprised to find I could still download PEF Raw files to my Win 10 O/S with my version of ACR (9.1.1) and Ps CS6. Had I chosen the slightly newer Pentax K-3ii Camera I would be in trouble and have to either up-date my version of Ps to Ps CC or use Pentax's proprietary file converter to read K-3ii PEF Raw files.

Dear U H friends,
I just received my new Nikon D 7200 camera and it wont allow me to transfer my images into my Photoshop Elements 9. I was on Messenger w/ B and H for over an hour and did download the Capture NX-D software. It still will not allow me to import any files, including RAW into P E. I keep getting the message: " Nothing was imported. The files or folders selected did not contain any supported file types. The file is damaged or is a formation that cannot be included in Organizer-NEF.
Somebody please give me hope that I can rectify this. I'm ready to ship the camera back.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

You know, you don't need Elements to simply transfer the images to your computer. Just pop the memory card into a card reader (or connect the camera via a USB cord, tho card readers are better), open it your system browser and locate the folder with the images, highlight them all then drag and drop to a folder on your computer. Copy them... don't "move" or "transfer" them. This is to be safe, just in case there's a problem, the original will still be on your memory card (later when you know the images are safe and secure on your computer, you can simply format the memory card in your camera to clear it).

You should have no problem viewing JPEG files even from a newer camera.... In an older version of Elements or a lot of other programs, possibly some built right into your computer operating system.

But, as previous responses have stated, your version of Elements is too old to work with a D7200's RAW (NEF) files.

The newest version (Elements 2018) has been on sale for about $60 a lot of places this week... and no doubt has lots of new features you might find useful.

That's utter B.S.

They're just trying to upsell you to their Lightroom/Photoshop subscription. Adobe has thrown their customers under the bus in the name of more profits. And they just had their most profitable year ever.

Elements 2018 will work fine with your D7200's files... both RAW and JPEG.

It probably has nothing to do with the camera. Try taking the card out and transferring directly. Go directly through the File Explorer. It doesn't care whether your file is jpeg, raw, tiff or afphoto. Of course there is a slight chance that the whole card format may be screwed up, but your description doesn't sound like it. This is, in all likelihood, a problem of the software on your computer, or the cable. If you have another camera try transfering its files.

That's not to say that a camera can't be bad. Just that I've never heard of anything like this.
