Dear U H friends,
I just received my new Nikon D 7200 camera and it wont allow me to transfer my images into my Photoshop Elements 9. I was on Messenger w/ B and H for over an hour and did download the Capture NX-D software. It still will not allow me to import any files, including RAW into P E. I keep getting the message: " Nothing was imported. The files or folders selected did not contain any supported file types. The file is damaged or is a formation that cannot be included in Organizer-NEF.
Somebody please give me hope that I can rectify this. I'm ready to ship the camera back.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

It is possible PE9 is too old to recognize RAW files from this camera? Did you create any JPG files? You should be able download those. But, more importantly, can you connect the camera to your PC via a USB cable and have the computer's OS "see" the SD card inside the camera and just copy them to the computer manually? With a new camera and old software and / or computers, you're probably in for a few upgrades .... Others might have ideas if you'll include the computer type and OS involved. Your message "did not contain any supported file types" is an indication of this type of problem.

The D7200 did not exist when Elements 9 was released. You will need a newer version for D7200 raw files. JPG files should be okay.

My suggestion is to contact Adobe. I had issues all day with importing my RAW files from my Canon 77D into LR and the Adobe tech was able to fix my issue in 2 minutes. Could be something similar that they can help you with. I know u r using Nikon. But give them a shot directly. IMHO

Photoshop elements is rather old using the 2003 process for editing raw files. I was going to suggest adobes dng converter this can read your raw files but i don't know how early a revision of the dng format will be needed. You will have to try the different compatibility versions till you get one that elements 9 understands.

http://rawtherapee.com/downloads
this is an open source raw file reader which should let you see and adjust your photos. There are downloads for mac and windows

Don't ship the camera back. Upgrade PSE.

I use Nikon ViewNX-i to transfer photos to the computer. It has a transfer function that creates a new folder for you and numbers the folders sequentially.

You need Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) of at least version 9.0 to process D7200 raw files, and that means you need Photoshop elements 13 or higher to support ACR 9.0. One option is to use Adobe’s free DNG converter to convert the Nikon raw files to DNG format and then import into PSE. Alternately, you can buy a copy of Elements 13 or higher or subscribe to Photoshop and Lightroom cc for $9.95 per month.

The latest version of ACR that will work with PSE9, is 6.5
The earliest version of ACR that your camera needs, is 9.0
In other words, your version of PSE cannot be updated to accommodate the files from your new camera.
PSE 13 can be updated to 9.0; PSE 14 ships with version 9.0 and can be updated to 9.5;
PSE15 ships with version 9.6 and can be updated to 9.10.
PSE2018 ships with version 10.0.0.827 (as shown by the About Plug-ins on the 2018 version on my computer.
If you would like to check for yourself, these are the links:

If your really lucky, you might still find the newest version of PSE (2018) on sale at a penny short of US$60. I'm not sure of yesterday or today was the latest date for that offer.

Take the SD card out of the camera.
Put the SD card into the appropriate slot into your computer.
Create a new folder on the computer.
Transfer the RAW and JPG files to the new folder.
Proceed to use the new camera while waiting for software update.

The software update for PSE 9 won't be coming.
His camera produces NEF files and JPEG files the Jpeg files are not a problem anything can read them even MSPaint.

A NEF file just tells you it came from a Nikon nearly every Nikon raw file is unique to a particular Nikon camera , similarly for Cr2 and Canon.

Several software programs will support these proprietary formats but only as new as their last update.

Adobes pretty good about supporting new cameras a brand new camera model is generally supported within 3 months. within that sort of time frame initially only the manufacturer will supply software that can make sense of the new format.

Unfortunately third party companies will not keep upgrading an old program forever , as they also update the features available when processing an image. They need to be making an income from the software they are selling.

There are plenty of third party software programs that support the Nikon D7200 NEF format price ranges from free to pretty much unlimited.

Adobes subscription plan only costs $10 a month but even with no price increase it is $1200 for the next 10 years or $2400 for the next 20. I'm not particularly young but i hope to be still around taking photos in 20 years time maybe even 40 or more. My k1000 camera dates to around 1975 and its still working 42 years later, there are cameras in use which are older still...

Anyway the OP needs a program that can open his RAW files, I already gave him a link to one free option. There are many others.
