Did anyone notice the very famous Democrat who's portrait this all took place in front of? He was a very famous racist in a historically long line of Democrat racists, Andrew Jackson.

Let's not oversimplify the issue. Party tenets and beliefs change over time. In Jackson's time we had the Democratic Party and the Whig Party. See this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Party_System Note also that the proper term is "Democratic," not Democrat. The latter is a noun, the former an adjective which modifies the noun "party."

I know you howlers like to screech about 19th Century Democrats as somehow this proves something about 21st Century Democrats. By so doing, you reveal an abject ignorance of history and demonstrate you are far more interested in partisan tribalism than any rational discussion. Or thought.

ROTFLOL!!! I was a Dem for most of my adult life! I only left the party fairly recently. I fully know the history of the party and how it has worked hard to obscure and hide it's true course with clever marketing and rebranding.

Fact of the matter is, the Dem party is as racist and divisive as it has ever been, why do you think they still have all of their demographic groups all carefully identified and segregated by race? They do not see their party as a group of like minded Americans. Even worse though, the Elitists of the party truly believe they are the smartest in the room and that everyone else in their party is there for them to save from themselves. They also identify anyone outside the party as dumb and stupid--they always have too. Also, just as through history, they use mob mentality to control their people and punish those who they oppose or who have dared leave the plantation, KKK, ANTIFA, MediaMatters, MoveOn.Org, and etc..

I suggest you read the classic book by Kevin Phillips (a Republican strategist) the Emerging Republican Majority. In it Phillips details exactly how Nixon realigned the parties by by his famous "Southern Strategy" whereby he peeled the Dixiecrats (aka racist democrats) away from the Democratic party to join the Republicans. Southern politics has never been the same. Yes, Strom Thurmond was both a democrat and a racist. But to try to conflate the likes of Strom Thurmond with modern democrats reveals an abject ignorance of American political history

Do some homework. Or continue to wallow in your partisan tribalism. I actually don't care what you choose.

I used to make excuses and try to defend the Dem party myself, so I fully understand your passion and defense. In my case, I had my eyes opened.

I suggest you open your eyes too and read "Con Job: How Democrats Gave Us Crime, Sanctuary Cities, Abortion Profiteering, and Racial Division", by former Obama supporter Crystal Wright.

Another I suggest is written by my friend, Jim Ostrowski, a book called "Progressivism: A Primer on the Idea Destroying America"
