I have a wild flower that thrives on the forest floor.
Indian Pipes are lacking in chlorophyll and this accounts for its whitish appearance. This flowering plant gets it nourishment mainly from decaying roots of trees, instead of from sunlight.
I usually find these flowers every year late in July or early August. However, when I looked this year I did not find any.
They are commonly called Indian Pipes, Ghost Flower or do the Ice Plant.
Beautiful, Fred Ann! I've never found any of these where I live.
