Silent Night.
I'm having a coffee in my local shopping centre (back home in Oz), and Silent Night is playing. Good! I don't like this business of no Christmas carols or Christian songs because some religions might be offended.
Silent night especially on acoustic guitar is far and away my favorite Christmas song.
Yes--probably my favorite. Oddly enough, it's not the favorite in Germany where it originated--the favorite there is (or was) "Vom Himmel Hoch".
I love the song and am happy someone chose to play it publicly. However I don’t want to be inundated with Christmas songs/ads as soon as Halloween is over.
I like hearing Christmas songs, and I still say Merry Christmas to everyone. No one as yet has been offended.
To each their own. I happen to like Christmas music and have had it on my Sirius station in the car since November 1. They've got some new songs, like "The 12 Days of Christmas" by Straight no Chaser which is absolutely hilarious and then amazing when they sing the carol to the tune of "Down in Africa". I'm sure by the time my children get here for Christmas that I'll be ready to listen to Country music again.
I cannot listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving--it just doesn’t seem right, though I have a friend who listens to it all year long.

My wife and I love to listen to Christmas music, have been listening for the past two weeks and will until Christmas. Always say Merry Christmas, will not stop because so,e loon thinks it offends somebody.

I'm in the other camp, I despise xmas music. I think it is mind rot. I'm really not fond of this season at all, and the thing that gets me most is the hypocrisy. Supposedly celebrating some fantasy figure from millennia back who was all for peace and unity, just so long as it's his version of peace and unity. All the pols and other public figures going out of there way with food drives for the poor and disadvantaged, only to ignore them for the rest of the year , "news" becoming free adverts for this or that by reporting riots or shortages of this or that.
That's my rant, I'm waiting, as quietly and peacefully as I can until January, and for you who love this season, go for it, enjoy but please remember those who don't enjoy are not grinches or scrooges. I don't jump on people who wish me merry xmas, I usually respond happy holidays, or thank you, I hope for the same.
Mannheim Steamroller's Silent Night is my favorite by far.
I agree with you 100%, Jude! I always say "Merry Christmas" to people and I don't care if they're offended!

When I was in China in 2001 in October Silent Night was one of their favorite Christmas melodies
If my wife could have it her way, the tree and all of our decorations would stay up all year.
My little tree has been up since last Christmas. Wasn't by design--it just happened. Good thing about it is that by now the 6 housecats have gotten used to it and pretty much leave it alone.
There are things about the season that disturb me--the overdone commercialization and media hype, and the greed that is so evident in folks these days--but as a Christian I also see and remember what the season is really about and I ignore the other stuff. I have a tree, but really have no one to share gifts with any more; I usually make gifts with an Angel Tree or through a charity now.
