Silent Night.
I'm not offended. It is music and not religion. In fact I like Christmas music.
I'm the type that wishes this stuff would wait until it gets closer to Christmas. :)

I cannot listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving--it just doesn’t seem right, though I have a friend who listens to it all year long.
I agree with you... I understand the economics for the stores but I do not agree with them. I just wish everyone would stay with the season. I just couldn't believe seeing Christmas displays during Halloween.
Christmas decorations seem to come out earlier each year. We don't have Thanksgiving in Australia, so don't have that benchmark. Even Halloween is not a biggy.
Thanks for all your replies, I for one find the hype and shopping a bit stressful, and it's always so hot here. We always have a long day of eating cold meats and salads, drinking cold beers, swimming with our kids and grandkids and families, always a great day.
No way will I ever say Happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas.
I personally find that people being possibly offended by innocent well wishes of a Christian nature is rather rare, and reports seem greatly exaggerated. I suppose it happens, but is pretty rare, imo.
Here in Oz, I think it is mainly directed toward people of the Middle East. They seem to have influence in outer suburbs of the bigger cities, here where I live, rare to see them. I feel if they want to live in our country, they should not be offended by our way of life, or our beliefs. Too much kowtowing by our weak government.
There...I've had my rant now.
For me.......Christmas and Christmas carols is just the beginning.....Without this time and without the death of that Christmas babe on Good Friday there would be no Easter celebration and Salvation so rich and free!!
We have an FM station here that started Christmas tunes last Tuesday. They will run 24/7 until the big day and usually a few days beyond, but that changes a bit from year to year. I have a strong preference for "O' Holy Night" myself. The spirit struck early this year. I just finished putting up the tree! Shhhhhhhhhh.......................... I promised I would wait another week. lol

Yes--probably my favorite. Oddly enough, it's not the favorite in Germany where it originated--the favorite there is (or was) "Vom Himmel Hoch".
Though written in the German language, Silent night originated in Austria, which is a different country from Germany (inspite of Hitler's attempt to change that arrangement)

Yes, of course you are correct. I mistyped.
The local stores that I visit always say Merry Christmas. I have yet to hear any sales clerk or cashier say happy holidays.
Love Silent Night but my favorite is Oh Holy Night. Have nothing against "Christmas" music but I detest what I call "Santa Claus" music.
"I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" should be required listening for the wisdom in the words.
I normally only hear happy holidays from the stores around here. I in turn always wish them a Merry Christmas.

I'm having a coffee in my local shopping centre (back home in Oz), and Silent Night is playing. Good! I don't like this business of no Christmas carols or Christian songs because some religions might be offended.
Do people in Australia get offended by holidays, too? There's nothing like a holiday to bring out the worst in people.
"Christmas is religious." "No it isn't!"
"Halloween is fun for the kids." "Halloween is devil worship!"
"Columbus Day celebrates the discovery of America." "Columbus was a genocidal maniac."
We can't even have fun without arguing about it.

Mannheim Steamroller's Silent Night is my favorite by far.
Oh yeah - Steamroller is really good. We've seen them in concert twice in our small town, may go again soon, too. But, have you heard Celtic Woman's music, especially their Christmas music? Give them a listen, too.
