I bought a sony full frame 42MP alpha 7II r, what lens for around $1k do you think would be best for scenic, car shows, static displays etc. Mostly outside stuff, no formal portraits or weddings, I bought one of the lesser expensive sony's and I have full auto focus adapters for my Nikon and Canon lenses but I think the camera would work best with a proprietary lens .

I’d consider both Zeiss and Leica lenses. They’re expensive but they’re excellent.
Best regards, Ricker

At this time, you'll need Sony product to take advantage of the A7RIIs full frame capabilities.

Have you tried Metabones adapters?

Sony/Zeiss 24-70mm F4 would do the job, under $1000 used all over the place.

Sony Zeiss 24-70 F4 for versatility and decent quality. Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8 Sonnar T FE ZA for near ultimate sharpness.

The 55mm Zeiss is considered one of the sharpest lenses available to day and it is just under your price point.

For a lens that would do all the things you are asking is the Sony FE 24-240. It is in your price range.

Sony G and GM glass is better than zeiss glass.

That 24-240mm lens has lots of range, but not high quality optics, it will NOT resolve his sensor satisfactorily. It barely is competent for the original a7 at 24MP.

Just want to make you aware you can also use any of the highly regarded Sigma Art series lenses in Canon mount with the Sigma full function adapter on Sony E-mounts ......
